1500m is an Athletics Event that exclusively appears in the Nintendo 3DS version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The aim of the event is to be the first to reach in the finish line in the fastest time by using the panels on the ground and repeatedly pressing the Dash button. The starting World Record for this event is 3:26:00, while the starting Olympic Record is 3:32:07.
The event starts at the last 400m at 2:40, and tells the player the first set of controls, with one button for dash and a button each for left and right. The player must repeatedly tap the dash button to increase and maintain their character's speed, which will drop if they stop pressing the button, and use the left and right buttons to change lanes to move to the ones with panels in. The panels boost the character's speed for a short period of time, however the character must be mostly in the lane for the effect to work. Every 100m, the controls change, meaning that one or more of the previous buttons swaps to another control, for example the dash button may change from A to X.
1) Dash & 2) Move sideways: A/B/X/Y Button and up/down/left/right on +Control Pad.
In Medley Match mode, 1500m appears as the third event of Footrace Medley 2, Sports IQ Medley and Adapt to Survive Medley.
1500m appears as the second challenge in Challengers Episode 1, The Blocked Bridge, in which Yoshi must beat a Fog Imposter of Shadow. It also appears as part of the third challenge of Challengers Episode 3, Enter Bowser?!, in which Shadow must beat Bowser Jr. in it as well as in 110m Hurdles and 3000m Steeplechase. It also appears as the first challenge of Challengers Bonus 2, Junior, Super Hero?, in which Bowser Jr. must beat Shadow.
