Spinners are mass-produced, bat-based Badniks created by Dr. Eggman that first appeared in Sonic Adventure. Their only appearance in the Super Mario franchise is in the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, where they take on their appearance in Sonic Colors for the Wii.

In Dream Sprint, Spinners can be found hovering in midair above the track; contact with one will slow down the player. Spinners also appear in Dream Discus, where they float along Windy Valley and stun the player upon contact. Ramming into them with the Boost maneuver and destroying them grants them five points. Likewise, the London Party minigame Highway Tally! entasks the player to count the number of Spinners flying around the screen.
