Princess Peach Toadstool (Japanese: ピーチ姫, Pīchi-Hime) is the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. Peach was created by Shigeru Miyamoto, and is the damsel-in-distress throughout most Mario games. Since her debut in Super Mario Bros., Peach has appeared in Mario games for over 20 years. Peach is occasionally a key supporting character of the plot, and sometimes a playable character. Her most notable appearance is as the heroine of Super Princess Peach.
She has an affinity for the color pink and has been shown to be a ladylike and kind monarch. Peach resides in her castle along with many Toads who tend to her. Her kingdom is often attacked by the Koopa Clan, lead by King Bowser.
Peach is portrayed as Mario's love interest and the frequent damsel-in-distress. She also has a special relationship with Princess Daisy, and is a good friend of Luigi, Toad, Birdo and Toadette.
History
Background

Yoshi's Island DS was Peach's first chronological appearance. As King Toadstools's only child, she was intended to rule the Mushroom Kingdom when she grew older. As one of the Star Children, she was one of many babies around the Mushroom World subject to a massive kidnapping. She was, along with Baby Mario, freed by the stork. She ended up helping Baby Mario and Yoshi save the other babies and defeat Bowser.
As revealed in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Peach grew very fond of the Mario Bros. as she grew older despite their small age difference; they were toddlers, while she was still an infant. Toadsworth the Younger often requested their presence for play dates when the princess threw tantrums.
Super Mario series
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. marked Peach's debut appearance (game release wise for the entire Mario series) as a full grown lady. King Bowser of the Koopas, who had invaded the Mushroom Kingdom, and transformed all of its inhabitants into blocks and other strange objects. However, as it was foretold that the Mushroom King's daughter would be able to lift the spell, he kidnapped Princess Peach, then known as "Princess Toadstool" in the English version. Mario and Luigi recognized the threat and went on to rescue her. After completing all seven castles and defeating the real Bowser, the brothers finally found the princess and rescued her. After rescuing her, Toadstool gave Mario a kiss on the cheek and thanked him. In Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, Toadstool is kidnapped by Bowser again, and rescued by Mario in the same way as before in Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 2
In Super Mario Bros. 2, players could go through the game as Princess Toadstool. Toadstool, along with Mario, Luigi and Toad, were called by the Subcon to save their dream land from the evil Wart. Toadstool's main ability was that she could float for a limited time after jumping. Toadstool was the weakest character in the game and has a poor vertical jump, but her floating ability was unlike any of the other characters. Princess Toadstool's abilities are copied from Lina in the original Doki Doki Panic.
Super Mario Bros. 3
In Super Mario Bros. 3, Bowser made a new attempt on capturing the princess. Hearing of it, Princess Toadstool asked Mario and Luigi to rescue the Mushroom Kings, sending them items while they were on their quest. After each world, they received a letter from Peach, telling them their next destination, and there was an item enclosed in the letter every time. However, while Mario and Luigi were in Pipe Land, Bowser put his plan into action and captured Toadstool, taking her to his home in the Dark Land. However, Mario and Luigi heard of it, and, following Bowser, defeated him and rescued the princess once more. Toadstool plays a joke on Mario and Luigi at the very end by saying to them "Thank you, but our princess is in another castle!...Just kidding!" referencing the Toads' often used quote in Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario World
In Super Mario World, Mario, Luigi and Toadstool were having a vacation in Dinosaur Land when Bowser once again kidnapped her. This time, she was held captive in Bowser's Castle in the Valley of Bowser. Bowser had brought her inside his Koopa Clown Car for the final battle against the brothers. Toadstool was helping Mario in the final battle by throwing mushrooms at him right before Bowser retreated after being hit three times. In the end, Toadstool was rescued by Mario, and she gave him a kiss on the cheek.
Super Mario 64
In Super Mario 64, Peach invited Mario to her castle for a cake, but before Mario arrived at the castle grounds, Bowser came and took control over the Power Stars. He sealed Peach in the fresco over the entrance of the castle. After Mario defeated Bowser in the final battle (titled Bowser in the Sky), Peach and two Toads were rescued from it. Peach thanked Mario by kissing him and baked a cake for him.
It should be noted that this game is the first and only game to merge both names for the princess. Peach signed her letter as "Princess Toadstool, Peach", which establishes Toadstool as her last name. Subsequent games use her first (or original) name exclusively. Super Mario 64 DS had the same plot, except this time Yoshi, Luigi, and Wario were there to help Mario rescue Peach.
Super Mario Sunshine
In Super Mario Sunshine, Mario, Peach, and Toadsworth went to Isle Delfino on Peach's private plane. However, Bowser Jr., in the disguise of Shadow Mario, had filled the island with graffiti. The crimes were blamed on Mario, and he was sentenced to clean the entire island with FLUDD. Peach's objections in the trial for Mario's alibi, having not yet been on the island while Shadow Mario was already active, was overruled by the Pianta Judge for no given reason.
Peach went to Delfino Plaza, as it currently was not possible to reach the hotel. There, Shadow Mario grabbed her and ran away. Mario followed them and was able to release Peach from Shadow Mario with the help of FLUDD. After the incident, which was reported by the local radio, the Delfino Emergency Broadcast System, Peach stayed on Delfino Plaza for a while, until Mario had collected ten Shine Sprites.
Eventually, Bowser Jr. kidnapped Peach while Mario was away, and took her to Pinna Park, where he revealed his true identity. Bowser Jr. claimed that Peach was his mother and that the evil Mario had kidnapped her. After Mario destroyed Bowser Jr.'s Mecha-Bowser, in which the princess was held captive, Bowser Jr. used a balloon to take the still intact head of the Bowser robot to Corona Mountain, with Peach still inside. Later, Mario made his way to the top of the active volcano and found Peach forced to bathe with Bowser and Bowser Jr. in a pool of green acid. This was described by Bowser as a "family vacation". Mario managed to rescue Peach, and later they were able to enjoy their vacation together with FLUDD.
New Super Mario Bros.
Princess Peach was kidnapped once again in New Super Mario Bros. However, as in Super Mario Sunshine, the culprit was not Bowser but his son, Bowser Jr. In the beginning of the game, Peach and Mario were taking a walk around the castle. However, an evil plan hatched by Bowser or Bowser Jr. sent Lakithunder attacking the castle emitting a large amount of smoke. When Mario went to investigate, Junior snuck behind Peach to kidnap her without warning. Mario chased Bowser Jr., with Peach in tow, throughout the Mushroom Kingdom. Eventually, Mario was able to confront both Bowser Jr. and Bowser; after Mario prevailed in the final battle, Peach was finally rescued.
Super Mario Galaxy
In Super Mario Galaxy, Peach's castle was lifted into space by Bowser, who wanted Peach to rule the universe by his side. She was brought into Outer Space, along with some Toads, and Mario had to go through different galaxies to save her.
The story began with Mushroom Kingdom celebrating the centennial passing of a comet. Peach sent a letter to Mario that night, inviting him to her castle. That night Bowser and his armada of Airships attacked Toad Town, setting fire to it. From her balcony, Peach watched with a worried look while holding a Luma she found, as Bowser approached her castle in his airship. He then invited her to the creation of his new galaxy. When she did not answer, Bowser summoned a UFO, which cut the castle out the ground, and the airships lifted it into space. Mario had made it to the castle before it was lifted. Just as Mario began to reach for Peach, he was attacked and sent flying with Peach still calling his name.
Template:Spoiler At times Peach secretly sent mail to Mario giving him a bit of aid by sending five 1-Up Mushrooms with the letters . When the player plays as Luigi, Peach still addresses the letter to Mario, sending 20 1-Ups instead of five. The Mailtoad tells Luigi not to care about the letter being addressed to Mario. When the Comet Observatory had enough power, Rosalina used it to take Mario to the center of the universe, where Peach was held captive. While Mario entered the castle to get to Bowser's Galaxy Reactor, Rosalina kept the armada busy. After the battle, Peach is rescued.
At the end of the game, Peach wakes up in Mushroom Kingdom next to Mario and Bowser. Peach is last seen looking into the sky wondering, as other creatures Mario had met during his adventures are now in her kingdom. Template:Endspoiler
The Great Mission to Save Princess Peach
Peach starred in The Great Mission to Save Princess Peach, as the damsel-in-distress. The story begins off when Mario is playing a videogame and then Peach comes out of the T.V., fleeing from some enemies, and explains to Mario that she is the princess from the Mushroom Kingdom and asks him for help. Mario instantly becomes lovestruck. But then Bowser appears and kidnaps Peach. It is revealed later by a wise old man that Bowser is madly in love with her and wanted to force a marriage on Peach. Mario and Luigi then set out and manage to save Princess Peach. The castle had been turned into the Koopa Castle, but after Bowser's defeat it is turned back into Peach's castle. Peach also had a boyfriend named Prince Haru, prince of the Flower Kingdom. Mario in the end was shown to be very jealous over this, but he and Peach still remained friends.
Super Mario Amada series
Peach also appeared in the Super Mario Amada Series. In the plot of Momotaro, two elderly Hammer Bros.(Obasaan and ojisaan) are grandparents to a beautiful girl, called "Prinzess Peach". However, she is so beautiful, she eventually gets kidnapped by Bowser. She is later rescued by Momotaro(Mario). In Issunboshi, Peach befriends a small Mario and also plays the role of Snow White in the third story.
Super Mario cartoons
In the DiC Entertainment cartoons The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 and the Super Mario World cartoon, Princess Toadstool appeared regularly. She had red hair instead of blonde, due to its coloration in the first few games. This style was kept in the Super Mario World cartoons despite Peach's different appearance in the corresponding video game. Peach's kind heart and gentle nature prevailed in the cartoons. She usually was a damsel-in-distress along with Toad, but at times she saved Mario and Luigi.
Toadstool was revealed to be looking for someone to defeat Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, but she would take the time out to help others such as her friend Joliet. She was very charitable in helping orphanages and even opened a school for the cave children in the Super Mario World series. A special form of Toadstool, Super Princess, appeared in the The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "The Trojan Koopa". Sometime after the events of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 series finale "Super Koopa", King Bowser Koopa, the Koopalings and their armies were banished from the Mushroom Kingdom. After the banishment of the Koopa family and their minions, Princess Toadstool, Mario and Luigi went on vacation to the Dinosaur World. Only for Princess Toadstool to be kidnapped by King Koopa and his minions. After adventuring and befriending Yoshi, Mario and Luigi managed to rescue Princess Toadstool from Bowser's Neon Castle and subsequently decided to stay in Dinosaur Land's Dome City with the cave-people.
Comic Appearances
Nintendo Comics System
She also appeared in the Nintendo Comics System comics, which had a semi-regular feature called Dear Princess Toadstool. In one situation Tryclyde wrote to Princess Toadstool in a thinly veiled attempt to get a date with her. Other characters to write included Luigi and Bowser. Peach also appeared in other comics. In A Mouser in the Houser a group of Mousers crown Peach their queen. Peach, Mario, and Toad are washed up on a island in Beauty and the Beach. Peach also makes minor appearances in Bedtime for Drain-Head, Tanooki Suits Me, and Betrayal Most Proper. The Koopalings try to kidnap Peach as a present for their father in Bowser Knows Best, though she ends up outsmarting them. In Duh Stoopid Bomb!, Peach and her subjects become dumb after being exposed to Bowser's Stupid Bomb. In The Doctor Is In... Over His Head, Peach helps out Dr. Mario; in this comic she is dressed in her nurse outfit. Pidgets brainwash Peach in Magic Carpet Madness. Lastly, Peach is featured in the comic The Legend, an adaption of how her adventures with Mario and Luigi started.
Club Nintendo magazine
Peach also regularly appeared in the comic series of the German Club Nintendo magazine. After several minor appearances, she played her first leading part in the story "Super Mario: Verloren in der Zeit". With the help of a manipulated Alarm Clock, Dr. Wily managed to take over Mario's hometown and to win Peach over, turning her into an evil black-dressed witch. When Mario invades Wily's castle, Peach even assigns the guards to arrest him. As it turns out, however, this story only happened in Mario's dreams. She also appeared in Mario in Mariozilla.
"Super Mario in Die Nacht des Grauens" featured a second major appearance of Princess Peach. In this story, she lives together with Mario and several other Nintendo characters in a Brooklyn skyscraper. As Mario happens to notice, Wario signs a contract with Abigor, a demon, allowing the latter to take over the skyscraper and committing him to manipulate Peach's brain so that she would fall in love with Wario. Obviously the spell Abigor puts on Peach has a different effect, turning her into a zombie. When Mario and his friends Link and Kirby try to rescue her, the only thing they find is a magical golden dice, which takes them to the underworld. They meet Abigor and his allies there, and after a successful fight also find the Princess, still being a zombie. Mario is not put off and gives her a hug, with the effect that she finally transforms back.
Super Mario Adventures
The Super Mario Adventures serial in Nintendo Power featured undeniably the most dynamic interpretation of the character. In this story, Bowser proposes marriage to her, which she naturally refuses. But despite being captured and held captive by the Koopalings, she does not give in easily. In the fourth installment alone, she beats up all the male Koopalings and locks them in her own cell, messes up Wendy O. Koopa's room and threatens to shred her favorite dress, and then drops out of their tower, using a Cape to fly away. On the way, though, she is knocked off-course by a Bullet Bill carrying Mario and lands unconscious. Luigi, Yoshi, and Toad find her. Luigi then sets off to rescue Mario as the others keep an eye on Peach.
When she awakens, after a dream that turns into a nightmare, and learns from Toad that the Koopalings are holding Mario for ransom, she becomes determined to break Mario out, despite Toad's warning that she might spoil Luigi's plan (infiltrating the tower disguised as her). With some assistance from Yoshi and Friendly Floyd, Peach busts back into the tower, saying she'll light a pack of Floyd's bombs unless Mario is set free. After a lot of chaos the group escapes Wendy's Tower.
Bowser recaptures the Princess later in the story, but as his planned wedding draws near, Peach still refuses to marry him and attacks all the Koopa Troopas attending to her in her dressing room. When trying to sweet-talk her doesn't work, Bowser realizes that he needs a hypnotist, at which point a Magikoopa brainwashes Peach into agreeing to marry the Koopa King. As a result of this, she is unable to fight back until a herd of Yoshis destroy the magic wand, thus breaking the spell. Mario, Peach, Luigi, and Yoshi escape and Peach kisses Mario on the cheek.
Super Mario Kun
Peach also appeared in the Super Mario Kun manga series which is exclusive in Japan.
Educational series
Peach is also playable in several educational computer games. She was one of the selectable characters in Mario Teaches Typing, where she could give the typing lessons, then she appeared in Mario Teaches Typing 2, with the same role. She also appeared in Mario's Early Years! Fun with Letters where she, along with Mario and Yoshi, traveled in a wooden boat learning about grammar and letters. She also appeared in Mario's Early Years! Fun with Numbers and Mario's Early Years! Preschool Fun.
Mario Kart series
Peach has always been a playable participant in the Mario Kart series. In Super Mario Kart, when controlled by the CPU, Peach will sometimes use mushrooms against the other drivers which will shrink them. In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Peach is teamed up with Daisy, and their special item is the Heart. Peach's personal kart in Double Dash!! is the Heart Coach, which is available by default. In Mario Kart DS, her karts are the Royale and the Light Tripper. In Mission Mode, she has to race against King Boo. She is advanced at drifting corners and has average item use. Peach was classified Medium in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, but Light in Mario Kart DS. Peach appears in Mario Kart Wii as a Medium-size driver, unlike Mario Kart DS. Also for the first time Peach has an alternate costume when riding a motorcycle.
Peach's racing courses are Peach Beach, Peach Circuit, Royal Raceway, and Peach Garden. In Mario Kart Wii a statue of Peach appears in the battle course Block Plaza. A billboard featuring her also appears in Moonview Highway, and her emblem in is seen in Dry Dry Ruins.
Yoshi’s Safari
In Yoshi's Safari, Bowser attacked Jewelry Land. Bowser caught King Fret and Prince Pine and held them captive. Being a good friend of Prince Pine, Peach sent a letter to Yoshi and Mario to help them. Peach even gave them an item, the Super Scope, to help them in their quest. This is also the very first game to call her Princess Peach in North America, as opposed to Princess Toadstool.
Mario & Wario
Also Peach appears in Mario & Wario. She along with Mario and Yoshi need help being directed by Wanda after Wario droped buckets on their heads. Peach is the slowest but easiest character to direct. She also appeared in Yoshi's Cookie, where she was a selectable character in the VS Mode. She appeared in the Japan-only game Mario Excite Bike, where she was a playable character (along with Mario, Luigi, Toad and Wario).
Hotel Mario
Toadstool is the damsel-in-distress in Hotel Mario where she is kidnapped by Bowser and the Koopalings and she can be rescued by Mario or Luigi, each time the hotel in which she is held is destroyed, she is taken to other until Bowser is defeated. Once the player beats Bowser, the Princess kisses Mario and Luigi on the cheek. The Princess, Mario and Luigi then proceed to call the player "the best player ever".
Super Mario RPG
In Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Toadstool was one of Mario's party members, along with Mallow, Geno and Bowser. At the beginning of the game, Bowser kidnapped her with his Koopa Clown Car, while she was sitting outside of Mario's Pad. Mario came to her aid, and defeated Bowser after a battle. However, Exor crashed into Bowser's Keep, and sent the three flying in different directions. Toadstool landed in the tower of Booster. Booster fell in love with her, and planned to force her to marry him, despite her cries of, "MARIO, HELP ME! MARIO, HELP ME! MARIO, HELP ME!". After Mario had charged Booster Tower and defeated Knife Guy and Grate Guy, Booster grabbed Toadstool and ran away with her up Booster Hill. He reached Marrymore, where he wanted to marry Toadstool as soon as possible. Mario managed to stop the wedding, and took Toadstool back to the Mushroom Kingdom. She was put under the eyes of the Chancellor, who, desperate for the princess's safety, would not have wanted her to follow Mario on his quest against Smithy. However, Toadstool escaped from the castle with the help of her Grandmother, who dressed herself up as the princess, and joined Mario's party to help them defeat Smithy. At the end of the game, Toadstool and Mario returned to Mushroom Kingdom together.
Mario Party series
Peach is also playable in all games of the Mario Party series. In Mario Party, Peach competed against the guys to see who is the superstar. In Mario Party 3 story mode, the player has to defeat her for the Love Star Stamp. On the Mario Party 3 duel boards, she starts with Toad as her partner.
In Mario Party 4, according to the instruction booklet, her favorite item is the Mini Mushroom. When she defeated Bowser in Story Mode, he gave her a heart-shaped portrait of himself. Peach joins her friends in Mario Party 5 and in Mario Party 6 to end a fight between the Sun and the Moon. In Mario Party 7, her default partner is Daisy, and their Character Orb is the Flower Orb. Peach also appeared in Mario Party 8 participating in the Star Carnival alongside her friends.
Peach is one of the playable characters in Mario Party Advance. She must be played in the Love Quest, Love That Princess!, when visiting Mr. I. She appeared most recently in Mario Party DS, in which she and her friends answer a fake invitation from Bowser and then are unfortunately shrunken to the size of chess pieces.
Depending on who she is teamed up with will determine their team name. Peach has earned team names such as "Fan Favorites", "Pink Punishers", "Black Peaches", "Sweetie Pies", and "Glamor Hammer".
It should also be noted that Mario Party 4 was the first installment overall for Peach to wear her modern/current main dress, which had substantial changes from her classic dress in Mario series' installments prior to it. Certain features were still kept from Peach's classic dress for her modern/current main outfit including her brooch, gloves, and earrings.
Game & Watch Gallery 3
Peach appeared in the modern version of the Donkey Kong arcade game in Game & Watch Gallery 3. Donkey Kong had kidnapped her, and Mario had to rescue her. Peach was also the main character of the modern version of Cook, where she had to flip sausages, bacon, and eggs, without letting them fall.
Mario Golf series
NES Open Tournament Golf
When the golf installments overall started with NES Open Tournament Golf, Peach was mainly a supporting participant (by being Mario's caddie).
Mario Golf (Nintendo 64)
When the dedicated Mario Golf installments for the series started years after NES Open Tournament Golf, Peach started to get more involved in the gameplay itself starting with the Nintendo 64 version. Statistics wise, she has one of the lightest hits, best control and hits the ball straight despite lacking distance. Additionally, her spin rivals Mario's. In Mario Golf (N64), Peach's partner in the game's opening was Plum.
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
Peach is also a playable participant in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour and she hosts a tournament in her course named Peach's Castle Grounds where warp pipes, Chain Chomps, and giant mushrooms can be found.
Mario Golf: Advance Tour
In Mario Golf: Advance Tour, Peach invites Neil and Ella to participate in her Open once they have proven themselves in their world. When Neil or Ella defeat the Dunes Tourney in singles or doubles, she will send them a letter, inviting them to her tourney. Also present for the tourney are Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Wario, Waluigi, and Bowser. At the beginning of the match, Peach had to stop Bowser and Mario from fighting and to remind them of their manners in the presence of guests. When Neil or Ella win the tourney, Peach oversees the ceremony as Toadsworth hands out the trophy.
Mario Tennis series
In the Mario Tennis series, Peach is a Technique character, who depends on strategy since she is not that strong.
Mario Tennis (Nintendo 64)
In Mario Tennis, even though Peach is Technique, she leans more towards all-around. This is because of her height to reach the ball, her speed, and ability to send the ball over the net.
Mario Power Tennis
In Mario Power Tennis, her Offensive Power Shot is the Super Peach Spin, while her Defensive Power Shot is the Sweet Kiss Return. She is skilled at getting the ball in areas hard to reach, and has good footwork. Peach's gameplay is described as "something beautiful to behold" in Mario Power Tennis. Peach has her own court, the Peach Dome. Peach appeared in several of the cut-scenes as the trophies were handed out in her dome.
In the Game Boy Advance version for Mario Power Tennis, Peach invites the characters Max and Tina to her tournament after they complete the Island Open. She has them escorted by Mario and Toadsworth on her private plane.
Paper Mario series
Paper Mario
In Paper Mario, King Bowser once again kidnapped Peach, this time using his castle to carry her away. While being held captive in her own room in the castle, a Star Kid named Twink came to help her, and together they found a secret passage out of her room. Peach sabotaged Bowser's plots by supplying Mario with a relatively constant stream of information, using Twink as her messenger. She also used a special treasure chest, where she could store items, and Mario could fetch them at the chest's counterpart at Shooting Star Summit. Peach baked a cake for Gourmet Guy, and also participated in the 64th Trivia Quiz-off run by Bowser's minions. Peach won a Sneaky Parasol, which allowed her to disguise herself as one of Bowser's guards. She could use the parasol to become a Koopatrol, a Clubba and a Hammer Bro. However, her disguise was lifted by Kammy Koopa as Kammy recognized Peach.
After his defeat, Bowser grabbed the princess and ran to the roof of the castle. He then used the Star Rod to make himself completely invincible. Princess Peach and Twink got into a fight with Kammy Koopa, and defeated her. Peach then wished that her kingdom would remain safe. Twink and Peach added their power to the Star Beam, then called Peach Beam, making it able to break Bowser's invincibility. Bowser was defeated and Peach's castle returned to its original spot in Toad Town. After the celebration parade, Mario took Peach to his place to watch the fireworks.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Before the events of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Peach went to a trip through the entire Mushroom Kingdom. They had a stop at Rogueport to refill their ship's fuel. On the market, she met an old saleswoman, presumably one of the Shadow Sirens. They had decided that Peach would be the best body for their bodiless Shadow Queen, who was locked up behind the Thousand-Year Door for exactly thousand years by the time of the game. They gave Peach the Magical Map, as she had a pure heart, which was needed to be able to open the chest of the map. The Shadow Sirens then tricked the alien Sir Grodus into capturing Peach and animating the Shadow Queen with her body. Before this happened, however, Peach had already sent the Magical Map to Mario, inviting him on a treasure hunt.
Peach was taken to the X-Naut Fortress on the Moon. While both Mario and, unsuccessfully, Bowser searched for the Crystal Stars to rescue her, the princess became active herself in the fortress. The base's main computer, the TEC-XX, fell in love with her due to a short circuit in its system, and betrayed Grodus to help Peach escape. He allowed her to send an e-mail to Mario at regular intervals. By the computer's orders, Peach dressed up as an X-Naut to question Grodus,
and also made herself an invisibility potion to find out even more about Grodus's plans. However, Grodus had TEC shut down when he found out, and took Peach to the Palace of Shadow. Mario followed, and he met up with Grodus in the room right before the tomb of the Shadow Queen. Grodus confronted Mario, and was prepared to kill Peach if Mario made a false move. However, Bowser crashed through the ceiling and fell on top of Grodus. While Mario and Bowser were fighting, Grodus took Peach down to the tomb and offered her as a body for the Shadow Queen. The ancient 1000-year old demon then possessed Peach, but refused to take Grodus's orders, nearly killing him. The Shadow Queen engaged battle with Mario and his partners. However, she found Peach's body too weak and returned to her true form (a purple shadow creature) for the final battle. Peach was able to give her powers to Mario for this. She could talk out of the Shadow Queen's body as the demon was weakened by the encouraging voices of the entire population of the Rogueport area, which were brought to the basement of the Palace of Shadow by the magic of the Crystal Stars. In the end, the Shadow Queen was defeated and Peach was restored. In the game's post-credits scene, Peach came to Mario's House, telling him she found yet another map and wanted to invite Mario on another treasure hunt. Shocked, Mario fainted.
Super Paper Mario
In Super Paper Mario, Peach along with Bowser, Luigi, and Bowser's minions were kidnapped by Count Bleck. Bleck forces Peach and Bowser to marry, the only way to form the evil Chaos Heart, which would destroy the world. As Luigi, who was attending the wedding, stomped on it in an attempt to stop it, everything was destroyed. Peach, however, survived and later escapes Bleck's Castle with the help of Private Koopa and secretly Dimentio, a follower of Count Bleck, and fell from the sky into Flipside. Although she was temporarily unconscious where Mario found her, she got better and joined the team after Mario gave her some Spicy Soup. She could float with her parasol using the 2 button, and if the player pressed down on the D-Pad, she used the parasol to shield herself from her enemies. Luigi and Bowser later joined the cause, though Bowser had to be convinced by Peach and Mario.
The gang made it to Count Bleck's lair. In Chapter 8-2, Mimi, a loyal minion of Count Bleck, taunted her for having been kidnapped so many times and for being rescued by plumbers instead of just rescuing herself. Peach and Mimi clashed soon after. When Peach won, a trap door was activated and Mimi fell through it. However, Peach saved her. The two fell down the shaft and were thought to be lost, but both survived. Peach comes back during the final battle against Count Bleck. As it was revealed, Dimentio was the real threat, as Bleck only wanted to destroy the world after the loss of his girlfriend. His girlfriend though turned out to be Tippi, a member of Mario's team. After defeating Super Dimentio and freeing Luigi, Peach witnessed the marriage of Bleck and Tippi in order to stop the Void.
Super Smash Bros. series
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Template:SSB Infobox She appears for the first time in Super Smash Bros. Melee, in which she is one of the starting participants. In this installment, she can float in mid-air and pull vegetables out of the ground as in Super Mario Bros. 2. She has a great recovery capacity but is easy to send flying. In spite of this she is a fairly easy character to use. Her Down Smash and Up Smash are quick and have several powerful, high priority hits. Peach is one of the best edge guarders in the series. Her Neutral A slap is good for disrupting combos and grabs, as well as starting combos herself. Peach's Forward Aerial Crown Slap is a great horizontal killer. She can also use an umbrella which can be used to float to the ground and whack people with. In Adventure Mode, she is fought at the end of the first stage. The player will have to fight her and Mario or Luigi. Princess Peach's Castle is also a course in the game. The detail in Peach's appearance is also greatly increased with a much more realistic look as compared to general Mario game series' installments.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Peach returns in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, heavily redesigned, based on her more recent appearances. She keeps her moveset from Super Smash Bros. Melee, as well as stay as a light character with the ability to float. Peach's new design in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is by far the most detailed look for Peach since her previous appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee. There are several changes about her in Brawl. Her Peach Bomber can cover more distance and it releases a cloud of hearts. Also her Parasol and Toad can KO now. Peach's Final Smash is called Peach Blossom, and matches Peach's peaceful personality. It, by default inflicts 40% damage to all foes and causes them to fall asleep. Peach has several trophies in her honor. One is of her Brawl appearance and Final Smash. Also she has two of her Paper Mario appearances and her as Baby Peach. Her stickers are based off of game artworks for Super Princess Peach, Mario Superstar Baseball, Mario Strikers Charged Football, and Super Mario Bros. 2.
Peach has three different taunts in Brawl. For her Up taunt she takes her parasol out and spins it, while saying "Sweet!". Peach's Side taunt shows her singing and dancing while swinging her dress side to side, and musical notes appear. Lastly, for her Down taunt she spins, winks while pointing, bends a little and says "Uh-huh!".

- Mei Ling: Princess Peach is the beloved ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom. She's been kidnapped numerous times by Bowser.
- Snake: Sounds pretty serious...
- Mei Ling: Yes, but every time it happens, Mario ends up saving her. Sure, he may not look like your ideal "knight in shining armor." A little on the short side, I'd say... But still, don't you think it's romantic? I mean, to have a guy who's always there for you?
- Snake: If he was smart, he'd tell her to stop getting kidnapped.
- Mei Ling: ...You don't get a lot of dates, do you, Snake?
Role in the Subspace Emissary
In The Subspace Emissary, Peach was watching Mario and Kirby fighting together with Princess Zelda, and ran down to assist them after the arrival of the Primids. However, she is soon captured by Petey Piranha and put into a cage along with Zelda. Kirby, who battles Petey Piranha, has the choice to rescue either Peach or Zelda. If she is not rescued, Wario appears and uses a Dark Cannon to transform her into a trophy and run off with her. Peach is later rescued by King Dedede along with Luigi and Ness. But his castle is raided by Bowser and his forces, who takes her with him.
If Peach is rescued, she will team up with Kirby and escape the stadium on a Warp Star. Peach and Kirby are chased by the Battleship Halberd and are forced to land on it. However, an Arwing, which has been hit by a laser beam of the Halberd, knocks them off and they fall to the ground. Unfortunately, later on in the story, Peach get caught off guard, resulting in Bowser turning Peach into a trophy with his Dark Cannon (leaving behind a clone of Peach). As Link and Yoshi slay this clone, Mario and Pit believe that they killed the real Peach, putting the two teams into a brief conflict.
Peach and Zelda are both held captive on the Halberd and later rescued by Meta Knight, Lucario, and Solid Snake. Peach helps them take back the Halberd by recruiting Fox McCloud and later stops him from shooting a helpless Mr. Game & Watch. Peach also goes into Subspace with the others, where they find Tabuu, the true enemy. She gets hit by his Off Waves and turned back into a trophy along with the others, but Kirby, revived by one of King Dedede's badges, manages to save her and some of the others before going to face Tabuu in a final battle.
Special Moves
Toad
Toad is Peach's standard special move in Melee and Brawl. Peach will bring out Toad to shield her. Toad will absorb any attack and send it back to the opponent. According to one of Peach's trophies, he does this by sending spores back at the opponent. In Brawl, Toad is capable of a knocking an opponent out of the arena. Toad can only be held out for a very small time, so it is hard to master. Kirby can use Toad if he sucks up Peach's powers.
Peach Bomber
The Peach Bomber is Peach's side special move in Melee and Brawl. When executed, Peach will leap forward, twirl and ram an enemy with her rear. Upon contact with another player, it will cause an explosion. In Melee, it is a fire explosion, while in Brawl, hearts appear. The attack is Peach's strongest move but, despite being powerful, takes a while to use, which can leave her open for enemy attack. It is very effective when she is battling multiple opponents.
Peach Parasol
Peach Parasol is Peach's up special move in Melee and Brawl. It serves as a recovery move as well as doing little damage. She smashes up with a white Parasol and damages any players who it hits. This attack is very similar to Mario's Super Jump Punch, in the fact that it launches her up, and hits the opponent several times in one jump. She then comes down, safely gliding down on her parasol, acting as one of the most useful third jumps in both games. Peach is unable to attack while gliding. However, The parasol can damage enemies by touching them. Furthermore, the parasol can be closed during flight to fall quickly. In Brawl, her parasol is based heavily on it in Super Paper Mario.
If Peach uses the Peach Parasol while holding the Parasol item, she will replace her usual Parasol with that Parasol.
Vegetable
Vegetables are items that can be used by Peach in both Melee and Brawl. She can pluck them from the ground with her down special move. Peach can throw these vegetables at other players, and they will bounce off of opponents, which allows Peach to grab them again, and continue throwing it at the opponent. This can also work to her foes advantage, however, as any character can catch them. The turnips do a varying amount of damage, depending on their facial expression. Sometimes, Peach will pull a Mr. Saturn, a Beam Sword or a Bob-omb out of the ground. Occasionally, a vegetable with the face depicted on the left will appear. These only appear at a 1/58 chance, but have more than 30% increased damage. The attack is a reference to Super Mario Bros. 2, where players were able to pull Vegetables out of the ground, and then throw them at enemies.
Peach Blossom
Peach Blossom is Peach's Final Smash from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Akin to the princess's unique blend of offensive and defensive maneuvers in battle, this tactic allows her to gain an edge over her opponents either by attacking them or restoring her own health. Peach can only perform this attack after breaking open a Smash Ball.
Peach Blossom made its first and only appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Visually, the attack is reminiscent of the sugar-sweet art style of Peach's first solo adventure, Super Princess Peach, which was published after Super Smash Bros. Melee and before Super Smash Bros. Brawl. While most of the characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl have Final Smashes based on previous moves or experiences, Peach Blossom is an entirely original creation.
Decorative hearts flutter around her and a decorative "border" featuring blossoming peach trees and two images of Princess Peach adorns the area around her. As Peach dances in a spotlight to a sped up version of the Coin Heaven theme from Super Mario Bros. 3, all of her opponents fall into a deep Sleep and take damage. The closer to Peach an enemy is, the longer he or she will sleep and the more damage he or she will take. Typical damage ranges from thirty to fifty percent. Next, Peaches fall from the top of the stage. At this point the attack technically ends.
However, as the princess's enemies remain unconscious for a time after the attack, she is free to do as she likes for a short time. Peach can restore her health by eating the Peaches and use her other attacks on her sleeping opponents. Because of the extra damage she has already inflicted, well-charged Smash Attacks may send opponents flying off of the screen. Once Peach attacks an enemy, he or she will immediately awaken and have a chance to recover. It is possible that her enemies will eat her peaches if they return to the stage.
Mario & Luigi series
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Prior to the events of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Peach was notified by the Beanbean Kingdom that the witch Cackletta would come and try to steal her voice. Cackletta wanted to do this in order to waken the Beanstar, a star-shaped bean which would grant wishes to everyone. The Beanstar has been sleeping and could only be wakened by a pure voice, in order to prevent abuse. Peach took precautions and when Cackletta and Fawful, dressed as ambassadors, arrived at her castle, they were not greeted by Peach, but by Birdo, who was disguised as the princess. Cackletta and Fawful unknowingly stole Birdo's voice and escaped from the castle, leaving Birdo with a voice of exploding characters. However, Mario, Luigi and Bowser, who were not aware of the true identity of the "princess", followed Cackletta to the Beanbean Kingdom before the real Peach was able to intervene.
After Mario and Luigi had presumably killed Cackletta at the Woohoo Hooniversity, Peach went to the Beanbean Kingdom with her plane. Peach revealed Birdo's disguise, thanked Mario and Luigi for taking care of the Cackletta problem, and decided to spend the holidays in the Beanbean Kingdom. She expressed the wish to travel to Little Fungitown, a settlement of Toad emigrants, which was lying across the dangerous Teehee Valley. Toadsworth insisted that Mario and Luigi accompany the princess on this journey. During their venture through Teehee Valley, Peach had to be protected from any harm in the desert. When she disappeared from Mario and Luigi's view, Gritty Goombas would appear instantly and take her to an underground dungeon. At the valley's end, Peach ran into Trunkle, a giant rock monster, but Mario and Luigi saved her from it before it was too late.
Later, Bowletta kidnapped Peach in order to make sure to awaken the Beanstar this time, which had shown angry reactions when confronted with Birdo's voice. She took Peach, who was at the Mushroom Kingdom embassy of Little Fungitown at the time, using Bowser's Koopa Clown Car. However, Cackletta was no longer in the possession of the Beanstar itself. When Mario and Luigi met Bowletta in Joke's End, Luigi dressed himself up in Peach's spare dress to fool Bowletta and Fawful into thinking he was Peach. The plan worked, and Bowletta released the real Peach, and kidnapped Luigi instead. In the meantime, Mario received a kiss from Peach. After Luigi's escape from the repaired Koopa Cruiser, Peach stayed in the Little Fungitown embassy until Bowletta was defeated.
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time starts with a flashback to the past. At the time the story starts, Toadsworth the Younger always took care of the baby princess, since she cried a lot. Baby Mario and Baby Luigi would sometimes come to play with her. And even Baby Bowser still came to kidnap her. But one day, aliens known as Shroobs invaded the Mushroom Kingdom. And since Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Baby Bowser, Baby Peach and Young Toadsworth were all there, Baby Bowser called Kamek to get them out of the castle. Kamek arrived and took them out of the castle with the Koopa Cruiser just in time.
In the present, Peach, Toadiko and Toadbert had used the Time Machine of Professor E. Gadd to travel back to the past, unaware of travelling to the time where the Shroobs were attacking. When they got to the past, the Shroobs cornered Peach and the Toads. Elder Princess Shroob, the leader of the Shroobs, and Princess Shroob, her younger sister, attacked Peach. Peach grabbed the time machine's power supply, the Cobalt Star, and trapped Elder Princess Shroob inside it. Then she broke the Cobalt Star into pieces, while Elder Princess Shroob was still inside. While the Cobalt Shards were spread around the world, Peach was held captive by Princess Shroob.
While Mario and Luigi teamed up with their baby selves to recover the Cobalt Shards, which they needed to save Peach according to Professor E. Gadd, Princess Shroob dressed herself up as Princess Peach. However, she was swallowed by Petey Piranha. The Mario Bros. and their younger selves defeated Petey Piranha, and Princess Shroob, disguised as Peach, was brought to the present by the brothers. E. Gadd told the fake princess to take a rest. However, while she was doing so, Bowser came and kidnapped her, believing that she was Peach. The Mario Bros. and Bowser only found out the true identity of Princess Shroob when they were all sucked into the Shroob Mother Ship in the past. During all this time, the real Peach was still in Shroob Castle.
When Mario and Luigi got to Shroob Castle, they saw Peach, but Princess Shroob interrupted their conversation at the point where Peach was going to explain why the Cobalt Star should not be completed and a battle begins. After it, Baby Bowser reunited the Cobalt Star Shards all together, making Elder Princess Shroob appear and giving her back all her power. After the battle, Peach and the others return to the present.
Mario Pinball Land
In Mario Pinball Land, Peach and Mario went to visit The Fun Fair. Peach was enthralled by the Air Cannon attraction, and decided to try it for herself. After she was in the cannon, a pair of Goombas rotated the cannon so that it pointed at Bowser's Castle. Peach was blasted far away, right into the castle's gates. Mario turned himself into the shape of a pinball in order to progress through the pinball worlds to rescue Peach. After he rescued her from Bowser, they both returned to The Fun Fair. They were last seen riding the roller coaster together.
Mario Baseball series
Mario Superstar Baseball
Peach is one of few technique captains in Mario Superstar Baseball. She has one of the best pitching and catching skills. She can also make home-runs at times even though she is not as strong as other captains. Her special pitch is the Heart Ball. In Challenge Mode, Peach learns it by purchasing the Lovely Heart item. She is the captain of her team, the Peach Monarchs (consisting of several Toads, Toadsworth, Toadette and Princess Daisy as sub-captain). In Exhibition mode, alternate names for Peach's team include the Peach Roses, Peach Dynasties or Peach Princesses.
For the Challenge Mode section of Mario Superstar Baseball, Peach is one of the playable captains that the player can choose when she answers a challenge from Bowser to compete against his team. In order to advance, Peach has to go against the other captains working toward the same goal. Upon meeting certain criteria during matches, they will join her team and she can also recruit others as well. At times she has to answer a challenge from Bowser Jr.
Mario Super Sluggers
Peach makes a reappearance in Mario Super Sluggers as one of the Team Captains. Although Peach presides over the Baseball Kingdom, she's part of the baseball game action itself as well (as seen in the game's overall opening). Her home stadium is the Peach Ice Garden, which has the appearance of an ice palace; it can be played in both daytime and nighttime setting. Outside the rink is a rose and flower garden. Peach is once again good at pitching and fielding.
As the story unfolds for Mario Super Sluggers' Challenge Mode, Bowser and Bowser Jr. invade the Baseball Kingdom, threatening to take it over. During the course of gameplay for this mode, Peach is one of the five captains the player can adventure around with. However, she first has to be rescued from Bowser Jr. in the Peach Ice Garden. Upon being added to the Challenge Mode roster after completing said case involving Peach, she has a unique talent to aid in exploration around stadiums using her well-known heart trademark, resembling her overall personality. Also at that point, she is able to assist in finding other required Team Players to make up her team, the Peach Monarchs.
The icon for the Peach Monarchs team includes a sparkling heart with Peach's sapphire brooch in the middle, and has a crown on top.
Super Princess Peach
Super Princess Peach marked a change of roles in the Mario series – it was Princess Peach's turn to save Mario and Luigi from King Bowser. With the aid of a talking umbrella named Perry – who was amnesiac and therefore possessed a mysterious past – Peach traveled to Vibe Island, where Bowser had moved his operations in order to obtain the Vibe Scepter. However, the Goomba who brought it to him had been affected by its magic, and with a calm, playful attitude, he used the scepter on the entire island, thereby creating chaos.
With this, Peach was capable of using four Vibe Techniques to help her through the areas. Princess Peach also was capable of floating for a short period of time like she was in Super Mario Bros. 2 (and subsequently, the Super Smash Bros. series), only this time she used Perry to hold her aloft rather than her dress.
Eventually, Peach fought her way through the island's many hazards and rescued Mario and Luigi. Perry also became less amnesiac as time went on, eventually recovering his memory. After Peach rescues Mario, he picks her up into his arms and gives her some flowers. Then everyone heads home together.
Mario Football series
Peach is a Playmaker captain in the Mario Football games. She is fast, agile, and is best at passing. In Mario Smash Football, her Super Strike is the Royal Strike, and in Mario Strikers Charged Football, her Super Ability is Freeze Frame!.
When Peach does her Super Ability in Mario Strikers Charged Football, cameras flock in and start to take pictures of her and traps any opponents in picture frames. Cameras were also seen taking pictures of Peach during her ground entrance and on certain occasions when she's celebrating after scoring a goal for her team. When Peach executes her Mega Strike, she turns into an angelic creature with wings, prior to knocking the ball down towards the goalie. Her number is 10 and her uniform colors are pink and blue. Peach's mission level is to defeat Daisy for the Star Cup. She is also the opponent of Bowser in his mission mode. Her theme song is a techno inspired tune.
Mario Hoops 3-on-3
In Mario Hoops 3-on-3, Peach is a technical character. She excels in shooting the ball at a distance. Her special shot is the Heart Shot. To execute it, Peach starts by dribbling out the shape of a triangle. As she spins and flips a sea of hearts appear. The hearts lift Peach and the ball into the air. After one spin she blows a kiss and the ball, followed by the hearts fly into the net. The hearts then form a large heart from a bunch of small ones around the hoop. Peach's home turf is the Peach Field.
Mario & Sonic series
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
Peach also appears Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, the first crossover sports installment featuring characters from both the Mario and Sonic universes competing in Olympic events. In this installment, Peach is classified as a skill character sporting excellent ratings in events such as the track, archery, skeet, and aquatics. She has the highest level of skill of all female characters but the lowest power. Peach is also one of the fastest characters. Peach uses her heart abilities again in Dream Fencing and Dream Table Tennis. In Dream Fencing Peach charges up and releases a huge pink heart. When the heart hits her opponent it explodes into smaller hearts. It has a very long range and Peach does not have to be close to her opponents. In Dream Table Tennis, Peach can make the ball disappear making it difficult to find. When she unleashes her shot, she spins around in a sea of hearts and then hits the ball.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
Peach returns to the Mario & Sonic installments in the follow-up, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. Statistics for Peach, in the Wii version, include her having a high rating in the skill and speed categories, while having a average rating in the power and acceleration categories. In the DS version, Peach has a high rating in the jumping and technique categories, is average in speed, ok in stamina, but is low in the power category. Peach's special abilities include an unique Mid-Air Float ability (for the Wii and DS versions) and the "Princess Dash" ability (exclusive to the DS version).
Like the other female participants in this game, Peach wears a winter outfit that corresponds with and matches the overall theme of the Winter Olympic events.
Itadaki Street DS
Peach, along other Mario series characters and several characters from the Dragon Quest series, appeared in the Monopoly game Itadaki Street DS. In that game her castle was also a playable stage.
Cameos
- Peach makes an appearance in the Nintendo Monopoly board game. The cost of her space is $220, and takes the place of Indiana Avenue.
- An item called the Peach Kart, a remote control kart with the princess, appeared in Nintendogs, and was only unlockable in Lab & Friends. Puppies liked to chase after it, and when it drove around, the music from Peach Beach played.
- Peach made certain cameo appearances in The Legend of Zelda series. One of them was a painting of her, that could be seen through a window on Hyrule castle.
- One of the treasures in Wario Land: Shake It! is called Peach Sandals, the description claims they have been worn by a princess, probarbly Peach, because of the name. This treasure was found in the first underwater level of this game, Wavy Waters of Wiggly Wilds.
- Peach also made two cameo appearances in the Gamecube versions of SSX on Tour and NBA Street V3, in which she was a playable participant along with Mario and Luigi.
- Peach is a minor character in Dr. Mario, appearing as Nurse Toadstool.
- In F-1 Race she appears on the 4th course waving, just before the player begins the race.
- In Ridge Racer DS, a car featuring Peach's face on a hood is unlockable.
- In Kirby Superstar Ultra, she is located in the audience, clapping while two characters fight.
- In Animal Crossing: City Folk, an item is available called Peach's Parasol in Tom Nook's shop if the player earns 4,000 points.

Princess Peach is depicted as a blue-eyed blond, wearing a long pink dress with arm-length gloves. Her dress has broad shoulders, a ruffled collar, and two dark pink panniers rest on the hoop skirt that accents her slender frame. The bottom of her dress has a dark pink border. Peach also wears a sapphire brooch set in gold. For her jewelry, Peach wears a crown decorated with rubies and sapphires along with sapphire earrings. In Super Mario Sunshine, this dress is shown in a lighter shade of pink. Peach's head is heart-shaped and her thin eyebrows are dark blond. Her eyes consist of numerous, thin lashes. In addition, Peach's hair falls down her back and has several small flips. Peach is taller than most characters but not all.
Peach's classic dress lacked panniers, had a belt-like piece of clothing instead of the panniers surrounding her waist, and the bottom of the dress's border went up close to her belt. Peach’s looks has not changed as drastically as other females like Daisy and Pauline. It should be metnioned that Peach shares very similar character features with Rosalina.
Hair
Peach has always been depicted as a blond in video games. In official artwork by Nintendo, her hair has been blond since the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2 (a.k.a the Lost Levels); however, due to the graphical limitations of the NES hardware, her on-screen sprite in the earlier Super Mario Bros. games displayed her with brown hair or red hair and outlines. Presumably, this was the reason why Peach was depicted with red hair instead of blond in the DiC Entertainment cartoons. This discrepancy was remedied in the SNES with Super Mario World, in which was she shown with her proper hair color. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, her hair was changed to a more realistic tone of blond.
She sometimes wears her hair tied up in a ponytail, as seen in first in parts of Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario 64 DS, and temporarily in both Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario, where the player could arrange it. She almost always has the ponytail in the sports games since the GameCube era. Peach is the only princess who ties her hair back, considering its long length; in most cases, her ponytail style is seen in Mario spinoff installments.
Alternate Outfits
Main Sports Outfits
When the Mario sports installments started with Mario Golf and Mario Tennis for the Nintendo 64, her classic sports uniform was her same classic dress, except it was shorter and she was not wearing gloves and was wearing tall, long socks. However, when the Gamecube Mario sports installments came around, Peach started to have more variety in her sports attire. In Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour and Mario Power Tennis, she wears a sporty minidress to mainly keep the theme of her current main dress. Later on, in the case of "active sports" installments (which include Mario Superstar Baseball, Mario Hoops 3-on-3, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and Mario Super Sluggers), she wears an athletic outfit to match the increased action of those said sports. The athletic outfit includes a pink tank top, pink shorts, and red and pink tennis shoes with two lace straps on each. The shorts have two white hoops on the bottom, and two white curved lines running from the side seams to the front waist.
It should also be noted that Peach's "active sports outfit" was first seen overall in her cameo appearance for the Gamecube version of NBA Street V3; the overall design of it is slightly identical to the current "main sports outfit" worn by Princess Daisy, but with some differences in features to keep the theme of Peach's current main dress including her brooch, collar, and overall color scheme (for her shirt, shorts and shoes). For most "active sports" installments in which Peach is a playable participant, she can be seen wearning this outfit; however, in Mario Smash Football and Mario Strikers Charged Football, Peach wears soccer outfits targeted for those games.
Soccer Outfits
As stated earlier, Peach wears a 2-piece soccer outfit in Mario Smash Football. The outfit consists of a pink midriff-baring crop top and pink shorts, both with blue accents, as well as pink and blue cleats. Later on in Mario Strikers Charged Football, Peach wears pink midriff-baring battle armor along with pink shorts and pink and blue cleats; this is due to the increased intensity of the game. Aside from the increased amount of protective equipment, the outfit includes crown patterns along with blue and yellow accents. Peach is one of the few characters who doesn't have to change uniform colors when away.
Biker Outfit
Even though she wears her gown in Mario Kart Wii, she also wears a pink jumpsuit with gloves and boots when riding motorbikes. The suit is white with pink vertical lines going down Peach's arms and legs. Her accessories include a pink scarf, a pink belt with a white buckle and pink boots and gloves. Along with that accompanies her traditional jewelry. There is also a heart-shaped pattern on her back. Daisy and Rosalina also have a similar outfit design like Peach's, but with different color schemes as a result to match their respective themes and uniqueness.
Winter Outfit
In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, Peach wears a pink winter outfit that is exclusive to the game and matches the theme for the Winter Olympics. The outfit's contents include white winter gloves and boots with pink lace. The outfit itself includes long purple sleeves and pants with a white line accenting each limb. Additionally, the core of the outfit is designed like a mini-dress with one white ring at the bottom. Peach's winter outfit still includes her standard jewelry including crown.
Other female participants in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games wear winter clothing for this installment as well. Princess Daisy wears an outfit in the same fashion as Peach. The overall design of Daisy's outfit is similar to Peach's; however, differences include color scheme and the obligatory elements to match her unique persona.
Other Outfits
In Super Mario Sunshine, the outfit design that Peach wears bears resemblance to Peach's current main dress. However, the color scheme difference for Peach's dress in the Super Mario Sunshine game is a lighter pink, and to match the setting, it does not include gloves or sleeves.
For Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, her outfits are based off her classic and current dress combined in a much more detailed manner.
In the Dr. Mario series, Peach wore a nurse outfit with sandals.
From Toadstool to Peach
In Japan, the Princess's name has always been Peach (ピーチ姫 Pīchi Hime "Princess Peach"). Peach's name is derived from the Peach tree that bears pink blossoms and juicy edible fruit. She was originally known as Princess Toadstool in the United States and other western countries. The English translation of Yoshi's Safari (1993) marked the first usage of the name "Peach" outside of Japan; however, the name did not catch on at that time, as the game itself was not very popular. In Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, she went back to being called Princess Toadstool. However, in Super Mario RPG, if Belome swallowed Princess Toadstool to clone her during the fight with him in Belome Temple, he would comment that she tasted "peachy". It was not until Super Mario 64 that the name Peach became widely known outside Japan.
Personality and Traits
Princess Peach is classy, kind, clever, and adventurous. She often displays an unselfish and noble spirit and puts her friends ahead of herself. For example in Super Paper Mario, Peach states she was taught to help others. Peach is also into sports and has been referred to in the Mario Party 5 official guide as being able to "play with the big boys."
Throughout the games many aspects of Peach's personality is showed. Peach displayed her Pure Heart in Super Paper Mario when she saved Mimi dispite being picked on by her. Along with that, she can be naive and very strongwilled at times, but Peach is also wise and motherly. Peach seems to enjoy exploring and trying new things. Peach is also sweet and hospitable to others. An example of this is when she often bakes cakes for Mario. Also in Smash Bros. Brawl's story mode, Peach offered tea to Fox and Sheik in order to calm them down. Peach was the only one able to recruit Mr. Game and Watch, who didn’t have a concept of right and wrong. And when Master Hand is defeated by Tabuu, she is the first to reach him attempting to check on him. Peach often expressed loneliness without Mario and she also apologizes excessively for getting into trouble. Peach enjoys the company of others, as she had constructed Baseball Kingdom for all her friends. She generally has the personality of a polite lady though she can be competitive and playful. She still shows good sportsmanship in many appearances. Deep down inside it bothers her that she is a constant victim of kidnapping, as seen in Super Paper Mario, but she still is very grateful for what Mario and Luigi do.
In the cartoon shows, she was also practical and generous to a fault; in one episode where the Mario Bros. are getting homesick, she vows to find a way to get them home and when they find it later in the episode, insists they take it even though Koopa is still on the loose. She was a motherly figure to the young Yoshi and Oogtar. She also has a feisty side especially in her comic appearances.
Powers and Abilities
Peach isn't a typical "damsel-in-distress," as she is described as in the cartoons and other sources. When held captive Peach either sneaks around to find out information, or sends useful items to Mario. Like other Mario characters, Peach can punch, kick, jump, and even ground pound. Besides these abilities Peach has many more; most of them deal with hearts. Peach also has never been regarded as a physically strong person, but she makes up for it in technique and skill.
In spinoff installments for the Mario game series, Peach's abilities usually deal around hearts. They're mostly seen in the sports installments including, but not limited to Mario Power Tennis (Sweet Kiss Return) and Mario Hoops 3-on-3 (Heart Shot).
Skills
Peach can jump in the air and float using her dress. Princess Peach also has a parasol that helps her float or attack enemies. As shown in several games, she can pluck vegetables and hurl them at enemies. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Peach has a powerful special attack called the Peach Bomber. She twirls and then rams her rear into the opponent, who is then engulfed in an explosion. She can also take her crown off and wack her opponents. In recent games, such as Mario Strikers Charged Football, she has been shown to be fast and agile. She can somersault over opposing teams. She can also summon cameras to aid her. In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, Peach is a Skill-type player. She has high speed and a high level of skill, but decent stamina and low power. Peach is the only female character to have the highest level of skill but the lowest power. She does well in events such as Archery, Vault, and Aquatics.
Princess Peach is very graceful. When performing the Heart Shot in Mario Hoops 3 on 3, she will perform elegant moves while dribbling out the shape of a triangle. Peach is also into ball-room dancing, singing, and plays the piano. It is also hinted that she likes playing video games and gardening. In many of her victory scenes Peach will do delicate twirls. Her heart abilities are once again shown in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Her Final Smash is Peach Blossom. Decorative hearts flutter around her and a decorative "border" featuring blossoming peach trees and two images of Princess Peach adorns the area around her. As Peach dances in a spotlight to a short musical piece, all of her opponents fall into a deep Sleep and take damage.
Princess Peach is mostly shown to be the heart princess. She can use hearts to absorb attacks as shown in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. When she hits the ball nicely in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, a trail of hearts will follow the ball. Peach uses the power of love in Mario Power Tennis. Super Peach Spin is Peach's Offensive Power Shot. Peach closes her eyes, spins very fast, and hits the ball with the power of love. This will knock the opponent back a few inches then attract the opponent to the net, leaving them open to Lob Shot and lose any Power Shots he or she was storing. It has an amazing curve, in fact the best curve in the game. The recovery time is very slow though. Sweet Kiss Return is Peach's Defensive Power Shot. Peach blows a sweet kiss at the ball, and hearts will appear and carry the ball back to Peach so she can hit it. After it is used the ball is lob shotted across the net with a bit of speed. When she performs a Super Strike in Mario Smash Football, hearts will follow the soccer ball. Peach uses her heart abilities again in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and Mario Super Sluggers. In the latter game, Peach can use her Heart Power to interact with objects in Challenge Mode. Her hitting ability greatly increases when she uses her Heart Swing. A star-lit bluish and pink background appears as Peach traces out the shape of a heart with her bat. After which she hits it shattering it into smaller hearts; the hearts travel with the ball and daze any male character who tries to catch the ball. Female characters are immune to the charm. For her Heart Ball, Peach winks and blows a kiss. She then dances while charging up and then pitches the ball fast.
Interactions with Other Characters
Mario

Mario is shown to be Peach's close companion since childhood. Mario saves Peach quite often and she usually will bake him a cake or kiss him upon her rescue. Since Peach's debut appearance, the two have been largely speculated to be in a romantic relationship. This is confirmed in the official European Mario website, in which Peach is listed as Mario's girlfriend.
In Luigi's Mansion, she sends Toad to help Luigi search for his brother, and in Mario Party 5, Peach and Mario are called "Cutest Couple". They also share chemistry together in Mario Superstar Baseball and Mario Super Sluggers, as they are "buddy players". Mario Power Tennis even goes as far as showing Mario himself telling Peach of his love for her in Peach's victory scene. Peach responded with a smile and blew a kiss. Also, in Mario's victory scene in Mario Power Tennis, Peach gives him a small kiss on his cheek. They both show deep devotion to each other as depicted in many of the games, especially in the Paper Mario series. Mario and Peach are the Secret Staff Ghosts for Rainbow Road in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. The official guide describe them at this: Aw, isn’t that cute? Mario and Peach are together again, zipping down the Rainbow Road and leaving you coughing up their dust.
In the comic "Warios Weihnachtsmärchen", published in the German Club Nintendo magazine, it is even revealed that they spent their graduation ball in school together, and that Peach decided in favor of Mario and against Wario.
In the first Paper Mario, one of the Toads tells Mario to take Peach on a date to Shooting Star Summit. For the official guide of Yoshi's Island DS, in the description for Baby Mario and Baby Peach: Dynamic Duo, Nintendo mentioned that before the "romantic entanglements" in their adult lives, they teamed up as babies to stop evil. Also the official guide for Mario Party 8 stated that Peach is apple of Mario's eye. Rosalina in Super Mario Galaxy even referred to Peach as Mario's 'Special One'. Also the two are seen holding hands toward the ending. In Mario Kart Wii, while racing with the Wii Wheels Peach and Mario playfully bump each other.
Luigi

Luigi is portrayed to be Peach's close friend. In any game where Luigi can switch Mario for the same role, Peach reacts to him in the same manner she does to Mario. Luigi also reacts to her in the same manner Mario does. They also appear together in Diddy's and Koopa's cutscenes. Luigi was rescued by Peach in Super Princess Peach and is seen together in the ending for Mario Party 3 having a conversation. In Super Paper Mario Luigi comes to Peach's rescue in an attempt to stop Count Bleck and the wedding between Peach and Bowser. Luigi's storyline in Super Mario Galaxy is almost the same as Mario's, and Rosalina calls Peach, Luigi and Mario's "special one". The two share chemistry in Mario Superstar Baseball, and are called "Green Eschort" in Mario Party 5.
In the Mario & Wario arc of Super Mario Adventures, Luigi is the one who brought the Samus Doll for Peach. Excited over her present, she gave him a kiss.
Bowser

Bowser has repeatedly kidnapped Peach over a dozen times, and torments her kingdom constantly. It has been shown Bowser has fallen in love with her, and wants to win her heart.
Bowser was embarrassed at first for anyone to know of his secret as depicted in Paper Mario, but he has been more open in expressing himself in later games. An example of this was seen in Mario Power Tennis, where he tried to get Peach to kiss him in front of the spectators; an attempt that failed. In the sequel to Paper Mario, Bowser set out to kidnap her back from Grodus. The two do not play well when together in Mario Superstar Baseball because of their bad chemistry. In Super Paper Mario, Peach and Bowser are supposedly married by Count Bleck, making them husband and wife. Although they were wed by Count Bleck, who is obviously not authorized to do such a thing, which means that the wedding is a "sham" and, therefore, unofficial. Bowser though, continued to believe in the marriage. In other media Bowser had been shown to have feelings for her as well.
Despite his feelings for her, Peach does not display them back. She does not, however, hold a grudge against him. Peach called Bowser sweet in Super Paper Mario, and even showed some form of concern for him. Overall, when Bowser is not kidnapping her, Peach is nice to him and likes him, as long as he does not cause trouble.
Wario

Peach and Wario have interacted over the years. Wario has aided in her rescue during the events of Super Mario 64 DS. In Mario Superstar Baseball, Wario asked her if she wanted to be his girl, after beating her in his story mode. Wario was unhappy about her winning tournaments in Mario Power Tennis, as seen in her victory scene. Wario and Peach were rivaled against each other in the intro for Mario Strikers Charged Football. Their team names in the Mario Party series are "Royal Pain", "Mismatch Pair", "Sugar 'n' Spies", and "Rotten Peaches".
In the Mario & Wario arc of Super Mario Adventures, Wario tried to buy Peach's prize item, a Samus Doll, for her birthday before Mario.
Princess Daisy

Daisy and Peach have been portrayed to be best friends since Daisy's big comeback appearance in Mario Tennis for the Nintendo 64. Soon after in Mario Tennis for the Game Boy Color, Daisy is commonly alongside Peach in many cut-scenes. If something involves partners in the Mario spin-offs, the two will usually be a team. Daisy and Peach share a team orb (Flower Orb) in Mario Party 7, a team item (Heart), in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, and are automatic partners in a vast amount of other games as well.
While Daisy and Peach are considered to be best friends, they are rivaled against each other in games like Mario Smash Football (where the two face-off in the game's opening) and in Mario Strikers Charged Football (where the two go up against each other in Challenge Mode). In the Super Mario manga series, the two have a friendly rivalry.
Like Luigi, the two share good chemistry in the game Mario Superstar Baseball, and she appears as the second member of Peach's team in Challenge Mode. Nintendo's Mario Power Tennis website says that Daisy is Peach's "sister in arms", a term used to describe a close friendship. In the Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart Wii official guides published by Prima and licensed by Nintendo, Daisy's biographies state that Peach is her cousin. That statement has yet to be proven in the games themselves, however.
Mario Super Sluggers is the first game to show the two sharing dialog in which Peach was shown to have a lot of concern for Daisy’s welfare. This can be seen after the player has rescued Peach from Bowser Jr. in the Peach Ice Garden, resulting in Peach joining the overall roster in the game's Challenge Mode.
Toad

Toad is Princess Peach's obedient servant, and often tries to protect her. Thrice he got kidnapped by the Koopa Troop trying to save her from Bowser, and other times he is seen to dote on her. This is further influenced by the fact that Toad is one of the eight Mushroom Retainers. The two are called 'Royal Family' in Mario Party 5 and 'Loyal Friends' in Mario Party 8.
Bowser Jr.

Bowser Jr. appeared in Super Mario Sunshine claiming Peach was his mother. It is stated in Brawl he felt so strongly about her, he kidnapped her. Junior, as shown in Super Mario Sunshine, liked Peach and tried to get her to join him and Bowser, but Peach politely refused the offer.
Even though Bowser Jr. knows Peach is not his mother, he still called her 'mama' in Mario Superstar Baseball. Bowser Jr. also must be present on Peach's team in order for the team to be call Peach Princesses. Bowser Jr. has kidnapped her in Super Mario Sunshine, New Super Mario Bros., and Mario Super Sluggers.
Toadette

Toadette and Peach are close friends. Evidence of this can be seen in the player chemistry they share in Mario Superstar Baseball and Mario Super Sluggers. Toadette is also on Peach's default team in both Mario Baseball installments. It is stated in the Prima guide for Mario Kart Wii that Toadette was excited after getting permission from Peach to race, indicating a family-like bond.
This is further supported in Mario Party DS. It is stated that after Peach heard Toadette play a music piece, she gave her a set of touching trumpets. Peach was touched when she discovered how happy Toadette was to have them. In addition to the trumpets Peach also gave her a table. Toadette currently resides with Peach in her castle.
Toadsworth

There is much confusion surrounding Peach and Toadsworth's relationship. However, it has been stated in games and game booklets that Toadsworth is Peach's stewart. Additionally, in Mario Superstar Baseball, when naming all of the players on Peach's team, Lakitu says "And... your grandpa?! Oh, pardon me! Venerable Toadsworth!" All is known though is that Peach is very close to Toadsworth and he is very protective of her, and has cared for her since she was a baby.
Others
Peach has had minor interactions with other major characters such as Yoshi, Waluigi, Birdo, Petey Piranha, and Donkey Kong.
Yoshi rescued Peach in Super Mario 64 DS and Peach at times rides on his back. Interactions with Waluigi and Birdo are seen in their team names in the Mario Party series, such as "Sweet 'n' Sour", "Anti-Couple", and "Pink Superpowers". Waluigi also appears in cutscenes with Peach in Mario Power Tennis. Peach and Donkey Kong appear together in a cutscene for Mario Power Tennis. Peach's performance level drops when in the company of Petey Piranha in Mario Superstar Baseball. They also had a face off in Super Princess Peach. More recently Peach is the one who can recruit Petey for the team in Mario Super Sluggers. In the Mario Baseball series, Peach also interacted with characters such as Koopa Troopa, Blooper, Dixie Kong, Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Funky Kong, and King K. Rool.
