Mario charges up a Mega Strike to use in Mario Strikers Charged
Mario attempts to charge up a Mega Strike.

A Mega Strike is a captain's strongest ability in Mario Strikers Charged. It is a much stronger counterpart of Super Mario Strikers's Super Strike. To perform this move, players must hold B Button to charge until a meter appears. Through proper timing, a player determines the number of balls as the meter swings right. When the meter moves back towards the left, proper timing determines ball speed. For example, lining up speed directly on the orange marker allows for the fastest available shot. After the shot specifics have been determined, the captain launches into the air, powers up further and then slams the ball towards the goalie. After that happens, the goalie must block the goals another way (Mega Strike Block).

Players can shoot between three and six balls, which can either go at a slow, fast, or very fast speed, depending on the color the meter stops on. Balanced captains have a balanced chance of getting the best choices for both sides; Playmaker and Defensive captains have a bigger orange zone of doing very fast Mega Strikes, while they have a smaller zone to fire six balls; Power and Offensive captains have a bigger zone of firing up to six balls, while they have a smaller zone to do very fast Mega Strikes.

Once a Mega Strike is performed, if the player scores any points, there will be a small cutscene celebration that lasts a few seconds. When defending a Mega Strike the player must use the Wii Remote to control the Kritter's hand and block the incoming soccer balls.

All of the Mega Strikes except Petey Piranha's can be seen in the opening cutscene of Mario Strikers Charged.

Captain's Mega Strikes[edit]

Unlike Super Strikes, which have a specific name for each captain in Super Mario Strikers, Mega Strikes are unnamed except on the official Japanese website. The Japanese names (which are themselves derived from English) along with their English transliterations are listed below.[1]

Mario
Mario performing his Mega Strike in Mario Strikers Charged メガファイア (Mega Fire): Mario jumps into the air as he turns into a fiery, orange-black form. Then he maneuvers his leg behind his head and he swings his leg to kick the ball with full force, smashing it towards the goal.
Luigi
Luigi performing his Mega Strike in Mario Strikers Charged グリーンタイフーン (Green Typhoon): Luigi jumps high into the air. He turns dark green and waves his arms around as the ball floats around him, leaving an electric plasma trail. Now electrified, he focuses his hands in front of the ball, then he outstretches both his arms, and, in a thunder-like sound, launches it towards the goalie.
Peach
Peach performing her Mega Strike in Mario Strikers Charged プリンセスキス (Princess Kiss): Peach jumps up as she glows bright pink and sprouts wings and a giant crown that looks like a halo. She then curls up in a protective position before releasing a flash from her wings launching the ball towards the goal.
Daisy
Daisy performing her Mega Strike in Mario Strikers Charged クリスタルスマッシュ (Crystal Smash): Daisy jumps up high into the air with the ball. She then raises her hand charging crystals into her clenched fist as her skin turns teal-black and her eyes glow teal-white, and punches the ball straight towards the goal, emitting shining crystals throughout the Mega Strike. Daisy's Mega Strike shares its Japanese name with her Super Ability in the game, Crystal Smash!
Yoshi
Yoshi performing his Mega Strike in Mario Strikers Charged ハイパーブレス (Hyper Breath): Flutter jumping to reach the ball, Yoshi's head turns red and he sprouts wings, as if he had eaten a Blue Shell and transforms into Winged Yoshi, before breathing in air and shooting the air on the ball, shooting towards the goalie.
Wario
Wario performing his Mega Strike in Mario Strikers Charged バルーンバースト (Balloon Burst): Wario jumps into the air. Sucking in large amounts of air that almost seem to form a small tornado, he swells up to balloon size and gets a pink face as he turns dark yellow. After rearing back slightly, he unleashes all the air full force into the ball, resulting in a fiery explosion and a gunshot-like sound.
Waluigi
Waluigi performing his Mega Strike in Mario Strikers Charged パープルスパイク (Purple Spike): Waluigi leaps high into the air and forms a deep red vortex behind him before he turns dark purple and whipping the ball with what appears to be a whip made of a long thorn bush stem.
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong performing his Mega Strike in Mario Strikers Charged サンダーブラスト (Thunder Blast): DK jumps into the air. Once in the air, his fur turns dark blue as he gathers electricity in his arms and claps the ball, hurling it towards the goalie.
Bowser
Bowser performing his Mega Strike in Mario Strikers Charged ヒートキャノン (Heat Cannon): Bowser jumps into the air, spins around once holding the ball as his claw extensions and spikes grow, his hair turns to fire, and his eyes glow yellow-white as his skin turns to red-black. He then throws the ball at the goalie with terrifying speed.
Bowser Jr.
Bowser Jr. performing his Mega Strike in Mario Strikers Charged ソニックスクリーム (Sonic Scream): Bowser Jr. jumps high into the air. As the background and his skin turns green, his wristbands glow, his head swells up slightly, and he suddenly opens his mouth to release sonar waves (similar to his Super Ability), which hits the ball and sends it flying towards the goal.
Diddy Kong
Diddy Kong performing his Mega Strike in Mario Strikers Charged ソーラーオーラ (Solar Aura): Diddy jumps high into the air, and, as the background and his fur turns orange he holds his hands together, crosses his legs and closes his eyes, as if he is chanting. The ball then suddenly bursts forward toward the goal without him even touching it. His Mega Strike seems to be a reference to the Monkey King.
Petey Piranha
MegastrikePetey.png プラントパワー (Plant Power): A flower comes up underneath Petey, and closes him in its bulb. The flower grows extremely high, and, when it has reached the top, bursts open, as Petey spits the ball out of his mouth at full force.
