"The Legend" is a two-page mini-story released in the Super Mario Bros. comic series in Super Mario Bros. Special Edition No. 1. It is a short adaption to the story of Super Mario Bros., explaining the backstory and how the Mario Bros. began their adventures as heroes.

Plot synopsisEdit

In the magical Mushroom Kingdom, the Mushroom People live in peace, ruled by the Mushroom King and Princess Toadstool, until King Bowser Koopa starts attacking and kidnaps Toadstool. When Mario and Luigi hear Toadstool crying for help, they go to the Mushroom Kingdom and defeat Koopa, who vows to come back.
