In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Big Wigglers make an in-game appearance. Despite being enemies, they can help Mario get items normally out of his reach. For this, the players must jump over a Big Wiggler and press the wii or wii button to do a high jump, as if they were using a Spring.
Big Wigglers make their debut in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. They move on preset paths, and can hurt Mario and company if they run into them. However, Big Wigglers can also defeat Swoops and most other enemies they run into, and players can bounce harmlessly off them to reach coins and blocks above; pressing the wii or wii button will do a high jump, similar to a Spring.

Big Wigglers can hurt Mario by running into him while on their preset paths. They can also defeat Swoops, along with most other enemies upon making direct contact. Also, they do not get angry if Mario jumps atop them, unlike normal Wigglers.
The Big Wiggler is completely invincible, but does not become angry like normal Wigglers; if Mario and co. are under the effects of the Star, they will simply bounce off the Big Wiggler with no effect. They can only be defeated by reaching the flag at the end of the level, as with the King Bills encountered much later.

It should also be noted that the Big Wiggler is one of the very few enemies that cannot be defeated by any means, and they can push Mario around, even when he is under the effects of the Star. They can only be defeated by reaching the flag at the end of the level, just like King Bills.

Template:Species-infobox Big Wigglers are a type of Wiggler that first appeared in Mario Kart Wii. Unlike normal Wigglers, their size typically causes them to not notice when Mario jumps on them, though they can sometimes be found angry by default.

History

Super Mario series

New Super Mario Bros.

A giant Wiggler appears as an unused enemy in New Super Mario Bros., suggesting that they were going to appear during gameplay but were either never implemented into any level or removed before the final release. They would have had the same behavior as a regular-sized Wiggler. A much larger and longer Wiggler, Kyodai Hanachan, appears as a friendly element in World 7-3.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

A set of Big Wigglers, in New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Big Wigglers make their debut in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. They move on preset paths, and can hurt Mario and company if they run into them. However, Big Wigglers can also defeat Swoops and most other enemies they run into, and players can bounce harmlessly off them to reach coins and blocks above; pressing the Two Button or A Button button will do a high jump, similar to a Spring.

Big Wigglers reappear in Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the Supermassive Galaxy. They appear on the Stone Tube Planet, where Mario must avoid running into them to reach the Power Star. A pair of angry Big Wigglers circle the tube towards the end; they cannot be defeated, but the Co-Star Luma can stop them from moving.

New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U

Big Wigglers return in New Super Mario Bros. U, serving the same role as in the previous game. They are found in Soda Jungle, and appear in Wiggler Stampede.

In New Super Luigi U, Big Wigglers appear in Wiggler Floodlands, where they are used to cross poison.

Super Mario Maker / Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS

Big Wigglers reappear in Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, where they can be used in all styles; giving a Wiggler a Super Mushroom will increase its size, but it otherwise retains the same behavior as a normal Wiggler.

Super Mario Maker 2

Big Wigglers return in Super Mario Maker 2, behaving the same as in Super Mario Maker; they cannot walk through poison like their much larger kin from New Super Mario Bros. U, and simply sink into it like most other enemies.

Big Wigglers make their first Mario Kart appearance in Mario Kart Wii, where they are found in Maple Treeway. If a driver bumps into them, their kart will be pushed back. Players also had to race against a Big Wiggler in a tournament on Wario's Gold Mine that took place in December 2008 and September 2010.

Big Wigglers also appear in Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart Tour, which also feature Maple Treeway. In Mario Kart Tour, the Big Wigglers now cause racers to spin out when touching one.
