Andrew Trego is the host of various series on the Play Nintendo's YouTube channel. He is an energetic person who loves to have fun. His favorite color is green as it reminds him of his Piranha Plant sidekick Izzy, and he also likes pizza.[1]
Andrew has a younger sister named Jenna and a mother who is never seen.
History[edit]
Mario Kart 8 From the Pit[edit]
Andrew first appears in Mario Kart 8 From the Pit, where he is the Crew Chief of the Mario Kart 8 Pit, giving tips and tricks about the game. He wears a blue and black vest with the game's logo and the Nintendo logo on the right side, and the Wii U logo on the left along with his name.
In "All About Items", Andrew discusses the items and how the player uses them in each race. There is a gag in this episode where he keeps getting hit in the head from a boomerang.
In "Customizing Your Kart & New Characters", Andrew talks about the newcoming characters in Mario Kart 8. When naming the Koopalings, Andrew states Morton owes him money. When discussing Pink Gold Peach, Andrew says in the right vehicle she is a contender to win the trophy and his heart.
In "Item Techniques", Andrew discusses various item techniques. Andrew interacts with a Spiny Shell, who acts like a dog. After Andrew says "Racing 101" is down the hall being taught by his grandmother, a clip is shown of an uncomfortable Andrew in the car with her blasting opera music.
In "Shortcuts", Andrew discusses hidden shortcuts in the tracks. At the end of the episode, Andrew watches the lead player at a GameStop competition finish her final lap in Mario Circuit.
The Play Nintendo Show[edit]
Andrew appears in every episode of The Play Nintendo Show, where he reviews games and lists aspects of them in Top 5 or Top 3 lists.
In "Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Terry Takeover: Part 1", Izzy oversleeps and misses the show. To compromise, Andrew creates a sock puppet named Frizzy, and Reggie Fils-Aimé sends over Terry for extra help.
In "Mario Kart 7 Road Hog", Andrew shows examples for ways using the Lucky Seven in real life: if Todd is getting in the way, use a banana peel. If the gym teacher dropped baseballs down the hallway, use the Super Star. If the principal wants to get the viewer's autograph because they are "awesome", use the Blooper. Andrew states the latter happened to him, causing Izzy to sarcastically compliment him.
In "Zooming Around Nintendo HQ with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!", Andrew and Jenna go to Nintendo of America headquarters and race to win the most races against various Nintendo employees. Andrew loses with three points.
In "Snippin' & Clippin' with Snipperclips", Andrew creates paper versions of him and Jenna, the latter of which thinks look ugly. When Andrew tries improving them, they escape. By the end of the episode, Andrew successfully traps them inside of a waste basket. Also in this episode, Andrew has a rematch with Jon Yeckley in "Thwomp, Paper Mario, Blooper" (a parody of "Rock paper scissors") after his defeat in "Sibling Showdown with 1-2-Switch". Just like his previous attempt, he fails.
In "Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, NBA Playgrounds & Fast RMX", a cardboard cutout of Andrew with a speaker box taped to him talks to Jenna, Izzy, Frizzy, and Worthington. The real Andrew interrupts the scene and tells the viewer how to cure "Clueless On What ato Obviously Do" (COW TOD) with various Nintendo Switch games.
In "Going on Tour with Nintendo's 2017 Summer of Play Tour", Andrew and Jenna attend Nintendo's 2017 Summer of Play Tour. Andrew also brings Frizzy, who interviews the attendees.
"Super Summer Powers with ARMS" introduces Andrew's superhero persona, "Captain Chill Awesome". He turns into this form after smelling his right shoe and passing out, causing a dream sequence of him and Jenna (who is also a superhero but retains her name) playing ARMS. Andrew is about to lose, but he wakes up from his "crazy" dream. Andrew and Jenna return to their forms in the dance party.
In "Splatoon 2 Time Traveling", Andrew invents the "Time Thing 7200", which he uses to travel to the events of "Mario Party Star Rush Celebration" to attend the party. He also creates clones of himself by doing this.
In "Miitopia Gets 5 Thumbs Up!", Andrew invents the "RPG Cap of Coolness", where he imagines himself in an RPG-styled fight against Jenna, Izzy, Frizzy, and Worthington. He defeats them all by using "charm".
In " Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions", Andrew eats the pizza cake Izzy accidentally made, which Jenna thinks is disgusting.
In "Super Mario Odyssey Space Exploration", Andrew is the captain on the S.S. Worthington.
Ask Izzy[edit]
Andrew has made several appearances in the Ask Izzy segments.
In "Izzy Has a Band!?", Andrew is the singer of the "Thunderous Thwomp Things".
In "How Did Izzy & Andrew Become Besties?", Izzy explains how he and Andrew became best friends. When Andrew was about to throw away a pizza slice, Izzy told him to not do it so he could eat it.
In "What is Your Favorite Thing About Summer?", Andrew tells Izzy his favorite things about summer are what most perceive as the worst things about summer.
In "Can Izzy travel through time?!", Andrew travels through time and steals Izzy's banana. Andrew returns it in "Do You Have a Favorite Superhero?". In that episode, Izzy states his favorite superhero is Captain Chill Awesome, who is revealed to have a comic book.
In the segment paired with "Back to School Madness w/ Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle", Izzy makes a Toad costume for Andrew at the request of "Mario and Luigi superstar world ultrasplash saga". Andrew asks Izzy if his hat makes his head look big.
In the segment paired with "Pokkén Tournament DX on the Moon?!?", Izzy says the funniest thing he has ever seen is a deleted scene from the film The Captain Chill Awesome Movie: Chill or be Awesomely Chilled, where Dr. Pie-rate accidentally claims he is his mother, when he was supposed to say is his brother, referencing the famous scene from The Empire Strikes Back.
In the segment paired with "Super Mario Odyssey Space Exploration", Andrew becomes one of Izzy's fears: an arm animal. Upon seeing Andrew in a chicken mask, Izzy realizes it is not so scary.
