The referee[1] is a character that appears in Donkey Kong Hockey. If the puck hits the referee, it will bounce off him, changing the course of the puck. The referee wears both a striped shirt and baseball cap that are colored pink and white, as well as white pants.[2] These colors can only be seen on the game cover, as this Game & Watch system lacks color.

The instructions booklet says the referee also prevents slow-play, but he never does so in-game.[1]
