Edmond Halley, alternatively spelled Edmund Halley, was an English astronomer, geophysicst, mathematician, meteorologist and physicist. He was a member of the Royal Society most famous for his computation of the orbit of a comet that would be named in his honor. He is one of the historical personages that Mario interacts with in the SNES version of Mario's Time Machine.

Mario finds and returns a lens that Edmund Halley lost, receiving information on Isaac Newton in return. Halley also gives Mario a copy of the rough draft of The Principa.
