First appearance Mario's Time Machine (1993)

The Bug Fix is an item in the PC release of Mario's Time Machine. It is a patch for the game itself that is obtained within the game as a physical, not as something that is literally applied to the game. Its icon is a flyswatter about to hit a fly (a pun on "bug" referring to both an insect and a glitch). After Mario travels in time to Novato in 1994, he meets one of the game's programmers, Don Lloyd, who mistakes him for being one of the quality assurance staff members and gives him the Bug Fix. Meanwhile, the actual QA (who goes unnamed) mentions to Mario that he is waiting for the Bug Fix from another programmer, Anthony Farmer, who is preoccupied with driving around the offices in a van. Mario soon gives the QA the Bug Fix, and he thanks Mario while also giving him the Bug Report and asking him to deliver it to the writers (i.e. Andrew Iverson).
