Big Paragoombas (known as Giant Land Para-Goombas in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3[1]) are enormous Paragoombas that are essentially Big Goombas with wings.

History[edit]

The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3[edit]

Large-sized Para-Goombas are shown once in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 episode "Princess Toadstool for President". King Koopa and Cheatsy bring a cage full of Giant Land Para Goombas to the Mushroom Kingdom, whom they unleash on a field of crops. However, Mario and Luigi show up and defeat the Giant Land Para-Goombas, stomping them as if they were standard Para-Goombas. They are named after Giant Land, and due to this and being imported, can be inferred to have come from there.

Super Mario series[edit]

Big Paragoombas make their game debut in Super Mario Galaxy 2, in the Supermassive Galaxy. The only way to defeat them is to spin and then kick or spin into them again, as if they were standard Giant Goombas.

Appearances[edit]

  • Mission icon from Super Mario Galaxy marks missions where they are loaded and may be visible, but cannot be encountered directly.

Super Mario Maker / Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS / Super Mario Maker 2[edit]

In Super Mario Maker, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS and Super Mario Maker 2, the player can enlarge Paragoombas with Super Mushrooms, turning them into Big Paragoombas. The same result can be obtained if the player attaches wings to Big Goombas. Super Mario Maker marks the debut of large-sized Paragoombas in a 2D Super Mario platformer.

Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition[edit]

Big Paragoombas appear in the RPG/puzzle hybrid Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition as stronger variants of Paragoomba. They are of Wood and Light types. A Big Paragoomba's maximum level is 99, and its HP and RCV ratings are higher than those of a normal Paragoomba, although it has the same Attack stat. Its skill, "Rush", deals 50 Wood damage to all foes, and its helper ability is "Attack Boost", which raises the attack of the player's team members.
