Father of Name Withheld, Super Mario Maker 2

The wearable Buzzy Shell is a course part that appears throughout the Super Mario Maker games. It is usable in all four standard game styles, but not the Super Mario 3D World style in Super Mario Maker 2. Unlike standard Buzzy Shells, the course part is hollow, lacking an underside and not containing a Buzzy Beetle. This allows the shell to be worn by Mario as a helmet. In Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, the Buzzy Shell can be obtained by shaking a Buzzy Beetle. In Super Mario Maker 2, it is instead able to be selected from a drop-down menu while selecting a Buzzy Beetle. Hollow Buzzy Shells behave much like occupied Buzzy Shells and Koopa Shells, as they can be jumped on, kicked, picked up, and thrown. Unlike the other shells, hollow Buzzy Shells can be placed directly into Pipes, Bill Blasters, ? Blocks, and be given Parachutes, as they are a separate part in Course Maker. Hollow Buzzy Shells also cannot wake up into normal Buzzy Beetles, and will always remain in place unless acted upon.

Buzzy Shells can be equipped either by touching it from below, or by crouching while holding one. Despite the Super Mario Bros. game style not normally allowing objects to be picked up, SMB2 Mario's ability to lift objects also works for putting on the Buzzy Shell. Equipping a Buzzy Shell puts Mario into the Buzzy Mario form. This form grants an extra hit of damage on top of any standard power up, as the Buzzy Shell instead absorbs the damage and falls off the screen. In addition, Buzzy Mario can also survive most attacks from above without taking any damage. Instead, the enemy or hazard bounces off with a metallic bang and sparking particle effect. Buzzy Mario is capable of destroying Brick Blocks, even when otherwise in Small form.
