"Kowabunga Koopa!" is an unproduced episode of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3.
Plot synopsis[edit]
King Koopa plans on conquering Beach Land by winning its annual surfing competition, being crowned king of the land. Determined to win the contest, Koopa heads to Beach Land, taking Bully with him.
The two arrive in Beach Land and meet their main rivals in the competition, Frankie Pavlone and Annette Fetticini, the king and queen of Beach Land. To eliminate the competition, Koopa orders Bully to kidnap Frankie and Annette and imprison them in a gigantic sandcastle. With Frankie and Annette trapped in the sandcastle, Koopa can easily win the competition.
Mario and his friends are the only ones who can stop Koopa from conquering Beach Land. To do this, they first overcome many of Koopa's minions to rescue Frankie and Annette from the sandcastle. Then, in the episode's climax, Mario challenges Kowabunga Koopa in Beach Land's annual surfing competition.

- Mario
- Luigi
- Princess Toadstool
- Toad
- King Koopa
- Bully

- Annette Fetticini
Notes[edit]
- Frankie Pavlone and Annette Fetticini's names are a reference to Italian-American singer Frank Sinatra and teen actress Annette Funicello, respectively.
- On a related note, Annette Fetticini's name is misspelled in the outline; the standard spelling is "fettuccine".[1] A similar spelling error is also present in Lady Fettuccini Alfredo's name in the official DIC episode outline for the episode "The Beauty of Kootie".[2]
- Though this episode went unproduced, another beach-themed episode, "Reign Storm", would later air, which features the Princess going on vacation to Hawaii with Toad and meeting the surfer Cutter.
