- NOTE: The following is a draft for a proposal to merge Bonfire Block, Flame block, and Fiery block. (Before you ask, Fire Block is exempt because it's actually mechanically distinct!) Do not deploy this to mainspace unless the proposal passes. If it fails, we'll also be deleting this, since userspace isn't an archive for stuff not allowed on mainspace. ;P

Bonfire Blocks[1] (also known as Flame Blocks[2] or Fire Blocks[3], and formerly known as Fiery blocks)[4] are blocks that first appear in Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins, and later appeared the Wario Land series, starting with Virtual Boy Wario Land. They appear as blocks with a picture of a flame on them, and usually serve as obstacles that are destroyed with fire, such as with a Fire Flower or via one of Wario's Reactions.
History
Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins
In Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins, Fiery blocks are a relatively common block that resembles a Rotating Block. Fiery blocks can only be destroyed with a fireball from Fire Mario, destroying the fireball in the process. They are frequently used to either block Warp Pipe entrances. Some Fiery blocks contain items, which are revealed once they are destroyed.
Wario Land series
Virtual Boy Wario Land

In Virtual Boy Wario Land, Bonfire Blocks make their first appearance in the Wario Land series. They resemble cubical stones with an ember pattern on them. They can be broken only by the fire stream of either Sea Dragon or a fire blast from King Dragon Wario. Unlike the fiery blocks of Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins, the flames pierce through the destroyed block. Bonfire Blocks are usually placed to block access to Coins or Hearts, though some block the path to Treasure.
Wario Land II
Bonfire Blocks re-appear in Wario Land II. Rather than being destroyed with a power-up, they are now destroyed on contact by the Flaming Wario Reaction. They resemble red cubes with a yellow rim and a yellow ember design on their front.
Wario Land 3
In Wario Land 3, Bonfire Blocks are now colored purple, but function similarly to their Wario Land II counter-parts, being destroyed by Hot Wario on contact once he is enveloped in the flame. Bonfire Blocks can be found in Out of the Woods, Bank of the Wild River, The Tidal Coast, A Town in Chaos, The West Crater, Tower of Revival, Cave of Flames, The Colossal Hole, and The East Crater,
Additionally, a larger variant of Bonfire Blocks, referred to as Flame blocks,[5] or fire blocks,[6], can be found in Tower of Revival and The Steep Canyon. They function identically to Bonfire Blocks, but are twice as large and feature a unique torch-like pattern on their front. A counterpart of the Bonfire Block for Snowman Wario debuts in this game, in the form of the Snowman Block.
Wario Land 4
In Wario Land 4, Bonfire Blocks re-appear in Toy Block Tower, The Curious Factory and Hotel Horror. They function similarly to in Wario Land II, but are now uniformly twice as large as ordinary blocks, similarly to the Flame blocks of Wario Land 3. They are tinted pink with a red ember design, and most Bonfire Blocks share the same stony appearance as Virtual Boy Wario Land. In Toy Block Tower, Bonfire Blocks are made of a glossy material.
