History[edit]
Super Mario Land 2 - Golden Coins[edit]
In Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins, Stars are mainly in the Star Course, but there is one at the secret level of the Space Zone. Clusters of them form a wall that cannot be passed, and they sometimes move back and forth in space. The enemies can be defeated using a Super Star. Stars are pictured with a variation of the Starman artwork from Super Mario Bros., depicting a smile instead of a frown like in-game.
Super Mario Kodansha manga[edit]
Stars make minor appearances in the Super Mario Kodansha manga.
In chapter 4 of Super Mario Land 2 - 6-tsu no Kinka 2, Stars damage the Poro that Mario and his friends are riding, causing them to crash in Tatanga-sei.
In Super Mario Land 2 - 6-tsu no Kinka 3, a Star can be seen celebrating Wario's defeat and regaining its freedom from his brainwashing spell.
In Daimaru Roketto's chapter in Super Mario 4-koma Daikōshin, Mario gets distracted by the beautiful stars that he starts wishing upon them, until the autoscroll crushes him into a ? Block.
Super Mario-kun[edit]
In chapter 12 of volume 9 of Super Mario-kun, a No.48 attacks Mario, Carrot, and Yokkī in the Moon Course, by throwing Stars at Mario's space suit, to damage the helmet and leave Mario without air. By summoning enough stars to create the Leo and then summoning a "breathtaking good-looking Star", he nearly succeeds in his plan, but Hippo arrives to save him. While No.48 prepares the Sagitarius' arrow next, Mario creates a Star Rod to shoo away the Stars and destroy the UFO.

Naming[edit]
The English version of the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia refers to this enemy as "Sutazu",[3] based on its Japanese name, "Sutāzu" (which had been used on the Super Mario Wiki from 2014 to 2017).
