Super Mario series[edit]
Super Mario Bros. 3[edit]
It has been requested that this section be rewritten and expanded to include more information. Reason: Exactly which levels does it play in?
Super Mario Bros. 3 marks the first appearance of the "Athletic BGM". A brief arrangement of the theme also plays when the player finishes a course, and is titled "Course Clear" in the Nintendo Music app.
In Super Mario All-Stars, as well as Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World and Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition, an arrangement of "Athletic BGM" is included in the game's remake of Super Mario Bros. 3, where it plays in all of the same levels as the original.
In Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, the Game Boy Advance remake of Super Mario Bros. 3, an arrangement of "Athletic BGM" plays in all of the same levels as the original game. This arrangement is played on piano and slap bass guitar.

Super Mario Bros. 3 (Nelsonic Game Watch)[edit]

Super Mario Galaxy and its Nintendo Switch port, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, feature a whimsical arrangement of "Athletic BGM", titled "Blue Sky Athletic" in the game's official soundtrack and the Nintendo Music app. A version played on synthesized instruments was later compressed and used in Super Mario 3D Land and can be heard in athletic levels.
