"Mezase Pokémon Master" is the first opening theme for the Pokémon anime. It is the most famous of all the anime's opening themes, and has since been re-used and remixed multiple times for films and future seasons of the show. It was originally performed by Japanese voice actress and singer Rica Matsumoto. A cover of the original version of the song appears as a playable song in Donkey Konga 3 JP.

Lyrics[edit]

(Pokemon getto da ze!)

Tatoe hi no naka mizu no naka kusa no naka mori no naka
Tsuchi no naka kumo no naka ano ko no sukāto no naka (Kya~~~!!)

Nakanaka nakanaka
Nakanaka nakanaka taihendakedo
Kanarazu GET da ze!
Pokemon GET da ze!

Masara taun ni sayonara baibai
Ore wa koitsu to tabi ni deru (Pikachū~)
Kitaeta waza de kachi makuri
Nakama o fuyashite tsugi no machi e

Itsumo itsu demo umaku yuku nante
Hoshō wa dokoni mo naikedo (Sorya-sōja)
Itsu demo itsumo honki de iki teru
Koitsu-tachi ga iru

Ā akogare no pokemon masutā ni
Naritai na naranakucha
Zettai natte yaru!

(I got a Pokémon!)

Even if in fire, in water, in grass, in forests
In ground, in clouds, in that girl's skirt (Eek!)

It's very, very,
Very, very difficult but
I'm sure I'll get you!
Pokémon, I'll get you!

Masara Town[note 1], farewell, bye-bye!
I'm leaving on a journey with him (Pikachu!)
Racking up wins with the moves we've trained
Making friends, and then off to the next city

Always and forever doing well
Though there's no guarantee of that... (That's true!)
Forever and always, I'll live true
Because they're here

Ah! I aim to be a Pokémon Master
I want to be, I have to be
I know I'll be one!
