Eine kleine Nachtmusik (formatted in grammatically incorrect form as "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" in Donkey Konga 2), also known as Serenade No. 13 for strings in G major, is a chamber ensemble composition by Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It makes several appearances in the Super Mario franchise, primarily in rhythm games.

Mario Bros.[edit]

The first 18 notes of Eine kleine Nachtmusik are used as the round start theme in Mario Bros., both in the arcade version and in the NES version. The same set of notes is also prominently featured in the Mario Bros. remix in the Super Smash Bros. series.

An arena rock remix of the song is featured as a playable song in the European version of Donkey Konga 2. The main instrumentation of the song is performed on an organ in a similar fashion to organ songs played at baseball events. It was later included as a playable song in Donkey Konga 3 JP.

Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix[edit]

An arrangement of Eine kleine Nachtmusik called "Underground Mozart" is playable in Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix. It serves as the second level of Story Mode.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games for Nintendo DS[edit]

In the Nintendo DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, Eine kleine Nachtmusik plays during the Figure Skating tutorial and when the event is played in multiplayer mode using DS Download Play.
