Mario Bros. Circuit is the introductory track of Mario Kart World, serving as the first race course of the Mushroom Cup. It is also the first checkpoint of the Golden Rally, and the second checkpoint of the Cloud Rally. The course takes place in an arid area in the mesa region of the game's map, making it the first opening course in the series to not be set in a grassland or stadium. More specifically, the environment of the race track is inspired by canyons and deserts in the western region of the United States, specifically Monument Valley in the Utah-Arizona state line. It is the longest introductory track in the Mario Kart series, typically taking just over two minutes to complete a race on 150cc. It is also the course where the game's final "Congratulations!" screen at the end of the credits takes place. Racers can be transformed into Chargin' Chuck, Coin Coffer, Goomba, Nabbit, Pianta, or Spike via the Kamek item, allowing players to unlock certain NPC divers. This course marks the first time since Mario Kart Wii that Luigi has had a race course associated with him.

Mario Bros. Circuit was the first course revealed for Mario Kart World, being featured in the Nintendo Switch 2 first-look trailer, the first revealed footage of the game. Specifically, gameplay illustrated racers driving off of Mario Bros. Circuit into the route to Crown City.[2]

The music that plays in the battle course variant of Mario Bros. Circuit is an arrangement of the "Battle Mode" theme from Super Mario Kart.

Course layout[edit]

All racers start in a desert stadium area. Following the starting line is a U-turn to the left around a stone tower with metal structures built into it. Near the stone structure lies a rail with coins on them that cuts inward into the turn. After, there is then a metal road at a soft upwards angle with rails on the sides containing coins. The metal road has racers turn to the right and then left. Next is a short tunnel, which leads to the course's signature elevated banked turn to the right which loops around to above the tunnel. Completing the turns leads racers towards a section with multiple routes. The main route is hosted on metal road containing some rails which zigzags, leading to a left turn towards the finish line. An alternate path can be reached by the player jumping off the road towards the right before the zigzag section. This path leads racers down some rocks to the side containing a jump followed by a glider ramp to the finish line. Near the glider ramps resides a rail which leads over some stands in the desert stadium area containing a couple of coins. Close to the finish line is a narrow path similar to the one in GBA Mario Circuit which goes near a rail.

Battle[edit]

Mario Bros. Circuit is also used as a Battle course. Like the other tracks in the top row - Moo Moo Meadows, Peach Stadium, and Salty Salty Speedway - Mario Bros. Circuit's Battle course is directly on the race course with additional pathways opened up. A large diner area is opened up, and drivers can drive onto the roof of the diner. Much of what is normally off-road is also opened up, including a small lake under the loop, and another sandy area near the loop.

Routes[edit]

Like Desert Hills, the route from Shy Guy Bazaar is the only one that enters Mario Bros. Circuit so that the course is driven in the forwards direction. There are two different ways that routes leading to Mario Bros. Circuit enter the course so that it is driven in the reverse direction: arriving from Crown City, Whistlestop Summit, DK Spaceport, or Desert Hills will have the player enter through the path used on the route between Mario Bros. Circuit and Crown City in Grand Prix, next to the starting line; and arriving from Wario Stadium, Choco Mountain, or Toad's Factory will enter the track through a path located after the first turn on the course, having the player traverse that turn backwards before starting the final lap.

DK Spaceport can be used as a route to Mario Bros. Circuit. However, the reverse is not true; Mario Bros. Circuit does not have a route leading to DK Spaceport, a trait shared with DK Spaceport's routes to Peach Stadium and Desert Hills as well. The routes between Toad's Factory and Mario Bros. Circuit both ways features a helicopter for drivers to hijack.

VS Race[edit]

Knockout Tour[edit]

Shortcuts[edit]

  • The inside of the first turn has a rail that is blocked by tire stacks.
    • When driven in the reverse direction, the new start of the rail is blocked by tire stacks instead, and the new ending does not have tire stacks.
  • The inside of the last turn has a raised platform with a rail and ramp. The platform can easily be accessed by using the glider ramp on the right path before it.
    • Although the platform exists when driven in the reverse direction, both the ramp on the platform and the glider ramp used to reach it are unusable due to them facing the opposite direction.
  • Players can cut through the dirt on the last turn.
