Effect Summons Kamek, who summons groups of obstacles and temporarily transforms drivers

Kamek[1] is an item debuting in Mario Kart World. It appears as a purple crystal ball with spell symbols swirling inside it, as well as a golden base designed after Kamek's face.

When used, it summons Kamek, who flies forward over the track, summoning many of a certain type of obstacle ahead of all the racers in front of the player who used it.[2] Kamek can also transform racers into multiples of a non-enemy character, including Pianta[3] and Nabbit,[4] or perform a summon of an enemy not on the playable roster, like rolling Chain Chomps[2] or a multitude of scattered Bob-ombs. Being transformed will also cancel a racer's drift. If a transformation goes into effect for the first time, an unlock pop-up notice appears, much like with costumes unlocked via Dash Food. The emblem of the driver changes to match the character they turn into beginning with the onset of the transformation, which serves as a preemptive tell for which transformation has been triggered.[2] Kamek ignores shortcut paths and will pick a single path at random if the track splits; it is possible to avoid the effects of a Kamek that way.

Summonable obstaclesEdit

The obstacles Kamek summons are dependent on which course, or route close to said course, the item is used in. Each obstacle has multiple courses they can be summoned on.

This section is under construction. Therefore, please excuse its informal appearance while it is being worked on. We hope to have it completed as soon as possible.
