Ice Rally
The Ice Rally is the second rally in Mario Kart World, represented by an Ice Flower, mirroring the Flower Cup. It begins in the far east of the map, at Sky-High Sundae, before heading northwest through Starview Peak, then past Dandelion Depths (albeit not through it), then south into Cheep Cheep Falls, before finally turning east again through Peach Stadium, and continuing that way until drivers reach Crown City. It is the only rally to feature Sky-High Sundae.
Rather than matching its VS Race counterpart, the segment from Starview Peak to Dandelion Depths consists of the first two sections of Starview Peak to Cheep Cheep Falls in VS Race. In the next segment, racers take a road that is not used in VS Race, then travel through the route from Cheep Cheep Falls to Dandelion Depths in reverse. Due to this, racers use ramps to jump down the hill section instead of taking the turns normally.
While other rallies feature four distinct checkpoints that are separate from the starting line and finish line, and their finish lines get crossed twice due to ending on a full lap around the final course, the Ice Rally features an extra fifth checkpoint from the finish line. This is because when arriving in Crown City, the third variant's finish line is used as the checkpoint, but instead of completing a lap of the third variant (as is done in the route from Peach Stadium to Crown City), the racers go into the alleyway before going through the Mushroom Cup variant. Due to this, the section from Peach Stadium to Crown City is the only rally section whose checkpoint is not located at the end of the map, as it includes the post-checkpoint transition to the Mushroom Cup variant of Crown City.
The Ice Rally is one of three rallies to be themed around an object not used to represent a cup before in the Mario Kart series, alongside the Cloud Rally and Heart Rally.
