Ivy Piranha Plants are a species of Piranha Plant introduced in Mario Kart World. They strongly resemble vines—notably, their toothless mouths with yellow lips and paired leaves are taken from the design vines have typically used since New Super Mario Bros. Wii—and like them, their stems grow very long.
Ivy Piranha Plants can be used as a grindrail, appearing as part of multiple P Switch missions in Free Roam. Occasionally, the player can control an Ivy Piranha Plant's growth path. Their heads are surrounded by a flower resembling a Hat Trampoline, allowing drivers to bounce off of them, similar to other flowers found in the game.
