Rewind

Rewind is a feature introduced in Mario Kart World. It allows the player to reverse their actions to original positions from a set period of time, such as rewinding after failed jumps prior to a ramp. When players use this, however, opponent racers continue moving normally, potentially causing the player to lose positions. Using rewind also leaves players vulnerable to being hit by obstacles, which will briefly halt its usage, and items collected from an Item Box disappear if a player rewinds to a point before they have broken one. In Free Roam only, the player re-obtains any items they used before rewinding. The function can also be used to avoid a Spiny Shell, as once it reaches the player, it instead slams into the spot where they initiated the rewind. Lightning will also not affect the player if they are rewinding, even if they are in front of the user. This feature is exclusive to single-player races and Free Roam.
