It is an orange, yellow, and green-colored kart themed after a Fire Flower, with the Fire Flower sponsor plastered all over the kart, referencing the powerup's hot properties. The kart possesses an exposed Fire Flower-shaped engine similar to a muscle car, an emblem right in front of the engine, a white spoiler, and black and red wheels. The kart's horn sound is similar to the sound of throwing a fireball in Fire form.

Naming[edit]
"Hot Rod" references hot rods, a term for cars that have been retrofitted with larger engines for greater performance, as well as the actual heat of the Fire Flowers it is themed after.
