The rally starts with racers being fired out of a cannon, sending them to a wide road in the desert. The road leads through Chain Chomp Desert. There is a pair of rings leading from the center of the pit to the exit. After that, the road continues straight, and leads over a large hill with Item Boxes at the top. There is then a large turn to the right and back to the left, which then leads to a long, straight bridge. After the bridge, the road continues straight leading into Shy Guy Bazaar. A sharp S-bend to the right leads into a long left turn that is split into two sides by a wall. There is then a section with several obstacles, leading into a left turn, leading into a gently zigzagging road to the first checkpoint.

The next segment begins with a straight slope upwards that has stair-like formations on the sides. The road continues straight, then bends to the right and back, proceeding into a long hilly straightaway with several bumps that can be used for Jump Boosts. There is a wide turn to the right, with a short straight piece before a turn to the left, which leads to an arch that is passed under. The road continues straight before taking a wide S-bend to the left, leading to where there is a transition to paved road. This wide road starts straight before gradually turning to the right, then transitioning into a sharper left turn where there are Dash Panels on some of the lanes. The road goes straight again, before curving to the right, and then narrowing as it turns to the left. A quick right turn leads to the final straightaway, which goes through a tunnel before merging with the final straightaway of Mario Bros. Circuit, where the second checkpoint is.

Segment three begins with a short drive on Mario Bros. Circuit, followed by a couple turns before a straightaway across the mesa region featuring Goombas and Rocky Wrenches. After crossing into the Grasslands region, there are no obstacles besides traffic. After reaching Crown City, there’s a short straightaway followed by a split path at the end.

Segment four largely takes place on the large bridge connecting Crown City and Faraway Oasis. The bridge features multiple boost panels, rails to grind on, Bob-omb Cars, cars that are launching Banzai Bills, cars that are launching Spike Balls, and other traffic. There is a drawbridge jump about three-fourth of the way through.

Segment five starts with turns across the savanna where players have to dodge several bull enemies and zebras. After entering the jungle region players pass near Dino Dino Jungle while dodging Piranha Plants coming out of pipes on the sides of the road and later Ptooies. The segment ends with players entering a lake from which they can boost up into the skies and onto Great ? Block Ruins for the final segment.
