A Ruff Puff's signature move is its ability to charge up for electric attacks. Ruff Puffs are the followers of Huff N. Puff, and so along with the giant cloud they invaded Flower Fields in the original Paper Mario. In the game's sequels, Ruff Puffs were simply generic enemies. - The name "Ruff Puff" comes from a corruption of the word "rough", the "puff" part of their name seemingly coming from the simple fact that they are clouds.
- In Paper Mario Ruff Puffs appear darker and have a color scheme similar to Huff N. Puff.
- They are also the only subspecies of their kind that doesn't appear in the Rogueport Pit of 100 Trials.
- The name "Ruff Puff" was a nick name for the South Vietnamese Regional Forces and Popular Forces during the Vietnam War.
