Janbi is a Nimbi from Super Paper Mario. He has no major roles, except for the fact that he is one of the Nimbis Bowser frees from the ice by using his Fire Breath. This Nimbi is only seen once during the events of Chapter 7-4 in The Overthere Sector 4 near Whibbi, and seemingly disappears after the events of this chapter.

While "Janbi" is only seen once, a character named "Marbi" is later seen near the bathrooms, commenting that he's happy to be unfrozen, despite the fact that he was never seen frozen in ice.

Hacking the game reveals that Marbi is actually intended to be the same character as Janbi, as Janbi shares dialogue with Marbi and vice-versa. Combining the two's dialogue makes a much more coherent set of events, and this detail was lost in the localization of the game. The resulting story of this combination is that "Janbi" being stuck in ice is the reason that "Marbi" complains about being frozen and having to use the bathroom. [1]

Tattle[edit]

  • "That's Janbi. A young Nimbi. He's scatterbrained, so he's always running about. But he's also a sap, so at home, he and his girlfriend are annoyingly clingy."

Naming[edit]

"Janbí" is a portmanteau of January and Nimbi.
