Pyro Guys, originally called Flamer Guys[1][2], are Shy Guys that have caught fire, as indicated by their name ("pyro" means related to fire, or is a short form of "pyromaniac"). They first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. If Yoshi eats one, he can breathe three shots of fire. The Pyro Guys can run faster than normal Shy Guys.
Pyro Guys appear again in Tetris Attack as Gargantua Blargg's partner.
Pyro Guys appear again in Paper Mario. They are twice as fast as normal Shy Guys and deal more damage per attack. Pyro Guys are also weak against ice attacks. Additionally, explosive attacks, such as Bombette's Bomb attack, can easily defeat a squad of Pyro Guys.
Pyro Guys appear again as enemies in Yoshi's New Island behaving in the same way as they did in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
