"Athletic BGM",[1] also known as "Athletic Theme",[2] is a musical theme composed by Koji Kondo for Super Mario Bros. 3, where it plays in the athletic levels.

In Super Mario Galaxy and the Nintendo Switch ports, Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, an arrangement of "Athletic BGM" plays in Sweet Sweet Galaxy and Honeyclimb Galaxy, during the mission "Wall Jumping up Waterfalls" in Beach Bowl Galaxy, and in the Rolling Green Galaxy and Rolling Gizmo Galaxy while the player is not on the Star Ball. In Nintendo Land, a chiptune arrangement of "Athletic BGM" arranged by Ryo Nagamatsu plays in the Chase Arena stage in Mario Chase. When 60 seconds remain, the tempo increases significantly. When 30 seconds remain, the tempo increases even more and the music is transposed to a higher key.
