Greater location British Columbia, Canada

Vancouver is the largest city in British Columbia, Canada, and the largest city on the west coast of the country as a whole. It maintains this role in a few games of the Super Mario franchise.

History

Mario is Missing!

Vancouver is shown on the Globulator, a world map in Mario is Missing!, but is not visitable in the game, even though Montreal and Toronto are locations in the Nintendo Entertainment System and Microsoft Disk Operating System versions, respectively.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games

Vancouver was the location of the 2010 Winter Olympics, and thus it is also the main setting of the game Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. Many mountains are located near the city, including Whistler Mountain and Cypress Mountain, which hosted several Olympic events both in the game and in real life. Other venues which appear in the game include the Vancouver Olympic Centre, Canada Hockey Place, Pacific Coliseum, and Richmond Olympic Oval.

Three courses based on Vancouver appear in Mario Kart Tour. The first course, Vancouver Velocity, was introduced as the signature course of the Vancouver Tour. The second course, Vancouver Velocity 2, later made its debut as the signature course in the Penguin Tour. The third course, Vancouver Velocity 3, was introduced in the 2022 Autumn Tour.

Several landmarks in Vancouver can be seen in the courses, which are the 2010 Winter Olympics cauldron, Vancouver Convention Centre, Canada Place, Hotel Vancouver, Waterfront station, Gastown steam clock, Capilano Suspension Bridge, BC Place, Roger Neilson statue, Science World, Rogers Arena, Stanley Park, Lost Lagoon, Lions Gate Bridge, Vancouver Public Library, Harbour Centre, Museum of Vancouver, and Vancouver Maritime Museum. The finish line posts are also designed to resemble the steam clock.

Tour Vancouver Velocity returns in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the fifth wave of the Booster Course Pass. In this game, it is the last course of the Cherry Cup.
