"World 3 Map (Water Land)"[1] is a musical theme composed by Koji Kondo for Super Mario Bros. 3, where it plays in the overworld map for Water Land, the third world of the game.
A similar melody has appeared in the The Legend of Zelda franchise as the "Fairy Fountain" theme. However, in a 2004 interview with Kondo, he claimed that the similarity between the two themes is coincidental.[2]
Arrangements of the bass line are often used for beach-themed Mario Kart courses such as Koopa Beach from Super Mario Kart and Cheep Cheep Lagoon from Mario Kart 7.
Arrangements[edit]
The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3[edit]
Two different arrangements of "World 3 Map (Water Land)" can be heard in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 episodes "Reign Storm" and "7 Continents for 7 Koopas". Additionally, a slower arrangement can be heard in the episode "The Beauty of Kootie".
