The suspects, also called stars and models, are the photo subjects in Mona's minigame Shutter in Game & Wario. They have yellow bodies and exaggeratedly shaped heads with cartoonish face traits, similarly to the Miis.
In the minigame, Mona is tasked by Editor Joe to capture on camera five residents in a Diamond City neighborhood or theater, whose roles change from stage to stage.
- In stage 1, the suspects are criminals hiding in the crowd and buildings.
- In stage 2, the stars are actors in a theater that are to be photographed when smiling.
- In stage 3, set in the neighborhood, the subjects to photograph are ghosts haunting the area and tormenting people.
- In stage 4, set in the theater, the stars are wearing pig costumes, making it hard to recognize them.
- In stage 5, set in the neighborhood, the scenery moves on its own, forcing the player to quickly photograph the models.
Depending on the framing, focus, and positioning of the subjects, Joe will award Mona points.
In the intro cinematic to Shutters, Mona is seen capturing on camera seven suspicious people doing shady business in an alley at night, which are then thrown in jail following the publication of the photos. These seven individuals are named Daisaku, Jack, Fukuyo, George, Michael, Bob, and Frank in the character credits.
