Sameow is a recurring playable character from the WarioWare series. She a cat with a laser cannon on one of her paws, named a "paw cannon" in WarioWare: Twisted! and a "laser beam" in WarioWare Gold. Sameow is a parody of Samus, the main protagonist of Nintendo's Metroid video game series, with the cannon specifically being based upon Samus's Arm Cannon.
Although Sameow first appeared in WarioWare: Twisted!, where she is playable in the Mewtroid video game, she did not have an official name until WarioWare Gold.

WarioWare: Twisted![edit]
Sameow, though never referred to as such, makes her debut in WarioWare: Twisted! as a playable character in only one minigame, Mewtroid. In it, she has to use the paw cannon to shoot down approaching bugs. Sameow always faces the screen, with her paw cannon pointed in the direction her belly is facing. Sameow moves by rolling over, which consequentially affects the angle of the paw cannon. Her rolling corresponds to the tilt of the Game Boy Advance system. Sameow's lasers, which are thin and grey, fly in a straight line and piece through bugs. When a bug is defeated the player gets a point. If Sameow's belly faces the ground, she curls up with her cannon and cannot shoot. Sameow is defeated if any of the bugs or their projectiles collides with her, ending the game.
Mewtroid's title screen depicts Sameow as an heavily anthropomorphized cat, unlike her depiction within the minigame.
Game & Wario[edit]
Sameow, though never referred to as such, returns in Game & Wario as one of the four characters that appear when using the Rope prize.
WarioWare Gold[edit]
Sameow later appears in WarioWare Gold, where she is called as such for the first time. She appears in Mewtroid, a returning minigame from WarioWare: Twisted! However, unlike before, Sameow's normal movement and her aiming are controlled separately. The controls which way she rolls, and aiming the laser beam is bound to the tilt of the Nintendo 3DS. Between movement, the laser beam's position defaults to directly upward. If the game does not receive input for a short time, Sameow switches into an idle animation where she naps. This animation resets her aim. Sameow has an additional ability in this version of Mewtroid: the rolling dash. It is performed by sharply rotating the Nintendo 3DS, and has Sameow roll extremely quickly in the corresponding direction to the edge of the screen while leaving behind afterimages. The rolling dash can be interrupted with directional input.
WarioWare Gold also has a sequel to Mewtroid, Mewtroid 2: Return of Sameow, in which Sameow has been captured by Mewtroid and is stuck dangling from a cat claw attached to a wall of a spacecraft. She has to fend off enemies with her laser beam, earning 100 points for each hit. In this game, Sameow's only ability is to fire her laser beam downward. These blasts are circular and yellow, and they stop at both enemies and at the edge of the Nintendo 3DS's Top Screen. The player can tilt the 3DS to tilt the room of the spacecraft. Since, like in Stumblebot, gravity points downward regardless of how the room/system is tilted, and Sameow always points in the direction of gravity, the player can control which parts of the room Sameow can shoot at. Like in the original Mewtroid, if Sameow comes in contact with any enemy or attack, she is defeated and the game ends. Unlike the original Mewtroid, the primary means of scoring is actually to defeat turtle enemies and direct them into other enemies as they fall to defeat more enemies, which is worth more points than using the laser beam alone and can affect enemies on the Touch Screen. In fact, there is boss enemy that never moves into the Top Screen, making it impossible for Sameow to shoot it and therefore requiring the player to use turtles to defeat it.
WarioWare: Move It![edit]
Sameow returns in WarioWare: Move It!, where she and the bugs from Mewtroid appear in Jimmy T's microgame Finishing Blow, where Sameow must now punch them while avoid being touched by them otherwise.

Naming[edit]
