The Cathedral of Notre Dame (in French: Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris) is a famous cathedral located in Paris. In its only appearance in the Mario franchise, it is vandalized by Koopa Troopas during the events of Mario is Missing!, as they steal the Notre Dame Bell from the cathedral's south tower. When Luigi visits the city, he finds the Koopa Troopa carrying the Bell and returns it to the Cathedral of Notre Dame. After proving that the Bell is authentic by answering two questions about the cathedral, he is rewarded 1,190 dollars.

Construction of King Louis IX's big project, the Cathedral of Notre Dame (Our Lady), began in 1163 and took 150 years to complete. Every detail of Gothic architecture was used in its design. Situated on the banks of the Ile-de-la-Cite, Notre Dame can hold 9000 people. The church is especially known for its huge rose-colored stained glass window. The window is illustrated with 80 pictures taken from the Old Testament. This is the home of lovable Quasimodo, the hunchback, from Victor Hugo's novel, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame."
