Taxi tokens[1] are small taxi-shaped pickups exclusive to the DOS and CD-ROM Deluxe versions of Mario is Missing!. When Luigi first arrives at a city, he has three in his possession, but additional tokens are scattered throughout the city.

Taxi tokens can be spent to take a taxi to any point in the city, showing a brief cutscene from the back seat of the taxi set to an arrangement of Super Mario World's underground theme; it deducts 10 seconds from the timer. While normally, this is purely for the sake of convenience, Alcatraz and Statue of Liberty's Information Booths can only be reached by taxi due to being an island. As a result, if the player uses their last taxi token to travel to Alcatraz Island, they will not be able to return, putting the game in an unwinnable state.
