“The Balaju Tank, home to the famous Reclining Vishnu, is housed in a 19th-century temple a few kilometers north of Kathmandu. Vishnu is the second member of a trio of important Hindu gods. The large, open water tank in which he rests is fed by 22 spouts in a row. The water keeps the sleeping stone image afloat. Above the tranquil god's tank is Nagarjun, part of the walled royal forest where pheasant, leopards, and deer roam in their natural habitat.”
