The Super Hammer, originally known as Spin Smash and also referred to as Spin Hammer, is a move in the first two games of the Paper Mario series. It costs 2 FP and allows Mario to smack the front enemy, which receives the same amount of damage as with a regular Hammer attack, into any enemies located behind it, dealing a fixed 1 point of damage to each of them. Certain enemies are immune to being pushed back by Super Hammer, such as B. Bill Blasters (in Paper Mario only) and Dark Wizzerds.

This move is succeeded by the Slaphammer in Paper Mario: Sticker Star and the KO Hammer and Paper Mario: Color Splash.

In Paper Mario, the move can be used by equipping the Spin Smash Badge, which can be bought from Rowf's Badge Shop for 75 coins. The Action Command for the move is identical to that of a standard Hammer attack. When the move is used against a Pokey or Pokey Mummy, Mario smacks one of the Pokey’s segments back instead of the entire enemy. It can also be used to knock off Shy Stacks one by one, and cause coins to fall from Kent C. Koopa in his flipped state.

The move reappears in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, alongside a stronger variation known as the Ultra Hammer. It is instead permanently unlocked when Podler gives Mario the Super Hammer in Chapter 3. Its Action Command has been changed, with six dots lighting up before the star, requiring a slightly longer wait before releasing the  . In this game, Pokey segments knocked away by Super Hammer deal increased damage to the enemies behind the first equal to the damage dealt by the Pokey’s segment-throwing attack (3 in the case of an ordinary Pokey, or 4 for a Poison Pokey).

The Super Hammer can now also be used on the field, by holding down  , rotating the   a number of times, and then releasing  . When used, Mario twists himself up and then swings his hammer while spinning, which can be used to destroy Big Yellow Blocks. It can also be used to get the First Strike on enemies, which allows Mario to use the move without spending FP, as well as reveal the Atomic Boo in the Creepy Steeple.
