Marianne and Luigeena are cousins of Mario and Luigi who appear in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! live-action segment "Marianne and Luigeena". They are very fond of one another, although they occasionally argue. Similar to Mario Joe and Luigi Bob, the pair greatly resemble their cousins and are portrayed by the same actors, Lou Albano and Danny Wells.
History
The episode starts with Marianne and Luigeena speaking with Mario on the phone. After learning that Lyle Alzado will be visiting Mario Brothers Plumbing, the two decide to come over and try to court him, with Mario and Luigi wanting to keep them away.
When the sisters arrive, they notice that Mario and Luigi are not home, but Lyle Alzado is there. Marianne and Luigeena instantly begin trying to flirt with Lyle, disturbing him.
After a while, Marianne convinces Luigeena to leave and look for Mario and Luigi, leaving her and Lyle alone. Continually flirting with Lyle, Marianne is eventually separated from Lyle by the recently appeared Luigi. As Luigi begins to try and explain things to Lyle, Marianne decides to leave to search for Luigeena, though not before reminding Lyle of their upcoming date, much to Lyle's horror.
Marianne and Luigeena appear again shortly afterwards to tell Lyle that their date with him is canceled, as they had recently seen Mel Gibson and decided to follow him home. The two then leave, leaving a slightly disappointed Lyle behind.
Naming
Marianne's name is a portmanteau of the names "Mario" and "Mary Anne". Similarly, Luigeena's name is a respelling of the Italian name "Luigina", a feminine equivalent to "Luigi".
