A Slingshroom is a special kind of mushroom in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. They appear exclusively in Mushrise Park, as one of its two attractions. There are two different types, which vary in appearance.

Normal Slingshrooms have a yellow base, an orange body, and a pink upper body. Each layer has flowers on it. However, Slingshrooms vary in how much of them is above ground, meaning that most Slingshrooms do not have all three of these layers visible. Each Slingshroom has a flat yellow square top, which is attached to the rest of the Slingshroom by a yellow hinge. The top has a Hammer icon, and a red arrow pointing from that icon into one of the four cardinal directions. The hinge is in the direction of the arrow. If Mario uses his Hammer on a Slingshroom while both he and Luigi are standing on it, it descends a level into the ground. Using Mario's Hammer on a Slingshroom while this condition is not met has no effect. If the player leaves a compressed Slingshroom idle for long enough, it will spring back up to its initial height while the yellow top swings upward and in the direction of the arrow. This tosses Mario and Luigi into the air, moving in the direction indicated by the arrow. They are centered as they are launched, such that the landing locations are consistent regardless of where the brothers stand on a Slingshroom. If the Bros. are in any Bros. Move state, including the stance taken before using Spin Jump and Side Drill, it is canceled out via cutscene just before the Slingshroom pops back up. This occurs even if the brothers are not standing on the Slingshroom when it pops up. After landing, the Action Icons are reset back to Jump.

Slingshrooms can have one of three default heights, which correspond to the number of layers of the Slingshroom that are above ground. For a Slingshroom taller than one level in height, Mario can use his Hammer on them more than once to lower them further into the ground. This results in the Mario Brothers being launched proportionally farther when the Slingshroom pops back up.

Mushrise Park is designed such that the landing locations for Slingshrooms are marked If a possible landing location is on ground level, there is bare dirt. If a possible landing location is higher than ground level, it has a lighter than normal circle of grass. When a Slingshroom is compressed, the camera shifts to help make the landing areas visible. The camera returns to normal when the Slingshroom returns to normal size, whether is launched Mario and Luigi or not.

There are two ways to avoid using a Slingshroom. The player can walk off the Slingshroom, which causes it to pop back up when the Mario and Luigi both touch the ground. For a Slingshroom that is compressed into the ground, it is possible for this condition to be met while Mario and Luigi are still in contact with the Slingshroom. If only Luigi is, he is tossed directly upward then lands, missing the Slingshroom and arriving next to Mario in the process. If both Mario and Luigi are, then the Slingshroom springing up will toss the brothers forward anyway. The alternative method is to use Mario's hammer on a Slingshroom which is already compressed into the ground. This will cause it to rise back to its starting height slowly, without launching the Bros.

Slingshrooms are sometimes positioned alongside the other Mushrise Park attraction, Seesaw Mushrooms. If Seesaw Mushrooms are in use and the Bros. move to a Slingshroom, the Seesaw Mushroom does not reset because Slingshrooms are not considered to be ground.

Some Slingshrooms have rainbow colors for all three of their layers. The middle of their yellow square top is purple with a yellow starburst pattern around the Hammer icon. There are only four of these Slingshrooms in the game, in pairs where one faces north and the other faces south, and all four of them use the maximum height. However, they have different mechanics compared to normal Slingshrooms, Using the Hammer on them immediately pushes them all the way into the ground, and further locks the player’s controls until the Slingshroom pops up. This means there is no way to avoid using this kind of Slingshroom after activating it. When they pop up, Mario and Luigi are flung extremely far, to the point they fly to an adjacent scene of Mushrise Park. Once there, they land in a preset location near the other rainbow Slingshroom of the pair. This is a part of progression in Mushrise Park, as one of the rainbow Slingshrooms in each pair is blocked off by nearly indestructible black rocks. The landing zone for the other Slingshroom in the pair intersects with the black rocks. The only way to destroy them is to be launched into the rocks by the second rainbow Slingshroom. Like with the normal Slingshrooms, all Bros. Move states are cancelled out just before the launch.
