A Pipe Cannon from New Super Mario Bros..

Pipe Cannons[1] are Pipes that appear in Super Mario World, New Super Mario Bros., New Super Mario Bros. Wii, New Super Mario Bros. 2, New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U.

In Super Mario World, Pipe Cannons are always on a slant and fire Mario or Luigi to very far places (about two or three screens away). The pipes here cannot be entered and are always exited via a different pipe, mostly from an underground area.

The Pipe Cannons from New Super Mario Bros., New Super Mario Bros. Wii, New Super Mario Bros. 2 and New Super Mario Bros. U are similar to the Warp Cannons used to travel to a different world, except they fire the player within a much smaller range. To use these pipes, unlike in Super Mario World, players are to enter one and then are automatically fired off, often to an unreachable ledge, platform, or even a different area. In New Super Mario Bros. 2, Pipe Cannons are also used to reach the Rainbow World and in New Super Mario Bros. U, there are Pipe Cannons on the world map, which are used as shortcuts to completed worlds, or to get to Secret Island and Superstar Road.

In Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart 7, the course Airship Fortress contains a Pipe Cannon, which shoots the player to the tower near the Airship.

Several Pipe Cannon-like veins can be found inside Bowser's body in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.

In Super Mario 3D World, some Clear Pipes have the ability to launch the player in a very similar manner to Pipe Cannons. One variety has the cannon part at the Clear Pipe's entrance, which launches the player through the tunnel until they reach the end. Another variety has the cannon at the pipe's end, which requires the player to press A Button to launch themselves out. Additionally, if a player jumps into a Cloud Cannon, it will produce a white Pipe Cannon which launches the player into a Coin Heaven.
