The Amazons[1] are a tribe of warrior jungle women that appears in Super Mario Kart 3 of the Super Mario Kodansha series. Their design is taken directly from Sue, the humanized Suu from the Super Mario Land manga, differing only in the hair color and the cavewoman outfit: while Sue had a two-piece animal-printed outfit, only queen Run retains it (with the addition of a crown and a key pendant), the others just have one-piece outfits without prints. Sue is twice depicted with them: first in an art in the Super Mario Kart 3 manga, and later in a promotional stricker bundle.

The Amazons live in the jungle region of the Mushroom Kingdom, away from civilization and men, in a village hidden inside a volcano. After weeks of drought, Run decides that the responsible is a Blargg living in the lava. To appease him, Run decides to make a sacrifice to the presumed-god and they capture Luigi as the sacrificial victim and later Wario and Bowser as well, who landed in their village by accident. While carrying Luigi to the village, one of the Amazons, Miki-chan, trips and is accidentally left behind, locked out of the village (because only the queen has the key to open the gate). Mario and Princess Peach find her while looking for Luigi, and she explains everything. After opening the gate with an explosion, Mario, Peach and Miki arrive to the village, rescuing Luigi just as he was about to be dropped to the Blargg. Run blames Mario for the failed ritual, but just then it starts to rain, killing the Blargg and putting an end to the drought. Treating Mario as a savior, the Amazons jump at him to kiss him, much to Peach's annoyance. With the situation resolved, Run let the men go.

Later, near the end of the volume, Luigi is stung by a venomous scorpion and, following Dr. Mario Nakamatsu's instructions, Mario returns to the Amazons, so that Run can open a way to the Pū Tairiku, where the antidote is located.
