History[edit]

Super Mario series[edit]

Super Mario 3D Land[edit]

Swinging spikes make their first appearance in World 7-2, and later appear in Special 3-4 and Special 5-2. Most swinging spikes simply swing back and forth like pendulums, but some instead rotate continuously in the same direction. They deal damage if touched in most forms, but break upon contact with Statue Mario.

Super Mario 3D World / Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury[edit]

Swinging spikes later appear in Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie[edit]

A Swinging spike appears in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie as one of the traps in Planet Bowser's Bowser OS that Mario and Peach run afoul of.
