Sand statues[1] are destructible ambient elements that appear in Super Mario 3D World and its Nintendo Switch port Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. They can take the form of either a Goomba or Bowser. Sand statues can contain coins, Mini Goombas, a Goomba Mask, or a Green Star, and some act similarly to ? Switches by making coins and/or a Green Star appear when destroyed. Sand statues are found only in Sunshine Seaside (one Bowser sculpture and five Goomba sculptures) and Plessie's Dune Downhill (three Bowser sculptures and thirteen Goomba sculptures).
They can destroyed by throwing a boomerang, throwing a fireball, firing a cannonball using a Cannon Box, sliding into them with a Green Shell or a Gold Shell, sliding into them while riding Plessie, or rolling into them. When destroyed, they grant the player 200 points and release their potential content.
