Propeller Mario (Propellerhead Mario in the original Prima Games guide)[1] is a power-up in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. When either Mario, Luigi, Yellow Toad, Blue Toad, or Toadette uses a Propeller Mushroom, they appear with a helmet that has a propeller on top. The side of the helmet shows the emblem of the specific character as seen by the red M for Mario, the green L for Luigi, the yellow or blue mushroom for the two Toads, or a pink mushroom for Toadette. They also wear a flight suit, and the color of both the suit and the helmet depends on the character. Mario's shoes are blue, Luigi's shoes are a slightly darker blue, and Yellow Toad, Blue Toad, and Toadette have red shoes. In this form, characters can rapidly spin to fly into the air for a short time then slowly fall back to the ground.

Super Mario series[edit]
New Super Mario Bros. Wii[edit]
When the player shakes the Wii Remote, the character flies a long distance vertically upward. This replaces both the Spin Jump and the Midair Spin. It can be used to reach high places or escape from enemies. Flying in this way acts similarly to performing a Spin Jump as Cape Mario, in that the player stays in the rising state until a timer concludes, even if they collide with a ceiling while rising. This can be used to repeatedly hit Blocks or pierce through multiple Brick Blocks. Flying can blow away clouds interfering with the player's view. After propelling themselves into the air, the character slowly spins while kicking their legs, similarly to the Scuttle. This slows their falling speed substantially, but prevents them from wall-jumping. If the Midair Spin is used in this state, the player stops kicking their legs and spins faster for a short time, which can still blow away clouds but does not stall their fall. This further means the player can only fly once after leaving the ground, with the permission to fly only resetting upon landing on a surface and not an enemy. If the player stomps an enemy or player character while falling, they jump off that entity normally. This returns the Midair Spin to normal and restores the ability to Wall Jump, but does not allow them to fly again.
If 
is held while flying or while in the recovery for flying, the character performs a Drill Spin instead of a Ground Pound. The Drill Spin makes them spin even faster while rapidly descending. It is similar to a Ground Pound, except that the player can release to stop using the Drill Spin and return to the recovery state for flying, and that it does not repeatedly hit Coin Blocks. The player enters the recovery state for flying even if the Drill Spin is used to cancel the flying motion. The Drill Spin cannot be used while the player is holding onto a Toad that they are trying to save.
If one player is in Propeller form, another player can pick up that player then either Spin Jump or do a Midair Spin to make the first player fly and carry the second player into the air. This is similar to the functionality of a Propeller Block.
New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U / New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe[edit]
This form returns in New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U, functioning identically to New Super Mario Bros. Wii. The Propeller Mushroom can only be found in the Toad Houses of Superstar Road and in Challenge Mode, but it is more common in New Super Luigi U, and can be found in most Toad Houses, as well as Enemy Courses. In these games, the player also cannot use the weakened Midair Spin as fast as they could in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
Propeller Toadette appears in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.
Super Mario Maker / Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS / Super Mario Maker 2[edit]
The Propeller form returns in Super Mario Maker, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, and Super Mario Maker 2, where it is exclusive to the New Super Mario Bros. U style, retaining its functions. Also, knocking on a Warp Door in the New Super Mario Bros. U style may cause Weird Mario to appear in this form.
Mario Tennis Open[edit]
In Mario Tennis Open, a Propeller Suit costume for Miis is unlocked after the player stars five characters. Additionally, there is a Propeller Mario racket for Miis to use that costs 1750 coins.
Mario Golf: World Tour[edit]
In Mario Golf: World Tour, a Mii costume, golf ball, and golf club set based on Propeller Mario appear. The ball and clubs are available after playing rounds, and the costume is unlocked by clearing all 18 holes in the One-On, One-Putt challenge for the Sky Island course.
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam[edit]
In Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, one of the Battle Cards shows Propeller Yellow Toad carrying Luigi, an artwork originally used for New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Propeller Mario is a playable skin in the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack in Minecraft.
