No Animal Signs[1] are objects that appear in the Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Land series. They first appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. No Animal Signs are located in levels that contain an Animal Friend, as their only purpose is to prevent said characters from going beyond a certain spot.

When an Animal Friend attempts to pass by a No Animal Sign, they will either disappear if it is accompanying the Kongs, or transform back into the apes if they emerged from an Animal Barrel. Although the Animal Friend disappears, the Kongs will usually be rewarded with a special item, such as an Extra Life Balloon. The rewards are often greater if it is difficult to reach the No Animal Sign. Additionally, there is a No Animal Sign for Nibbla, but unlike with the other Animal Friends, it does not turn into an item if the Kongs swim past the sign; Nibbla instead stays behind.

No Animal Signs do not appear in Donkey Kong Country, as the Kongs can ride Animal Friends to the end of the level (although they cannot take their friends to the next level), which is also the case of its modern sequels, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. The Animal Signs are absent from Donkey Kong 64 as well, which has an invisible barrier that, once crossed, will forcibly change a Kong who has been transformed into an Animal Friend back to normal.
