Template:Articleabout Template:Character-infobox Big Thaddeus Daddy Toad the II (sometimes called Big Daddy, or just "Blue Toad") is the end-all be-all of Toad coolness. He is the blue toad in Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Bros. Wii U, and Super Mario 3D World. His family also made many major appearances in the Gamecube game Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. In addition to adventuring with Mario, he is also president and co-founder of the TAEMF (Toad's Against the Eating of Mushrooms Foundation), a charity designed to prevent the production and consumption of mushrooms, which are, quote, "The heads of fallen comrades."

History

Big Daddy was born in a log cabin in Utah, the second son of Daddy Daddy and Momma Daddy (the first son was Pop Daddy, or, Yellow Toad). His dreams of getting a pony were shattered when his family had to eat horse meat during the war. At the age of 6, the Daddy family moved to Petalburg, where Big Daddy spent much time outside praising Gameboy games.

Finding peace in the fields of Petalburg, he was rather distressed when his family moved to Rogueport, so his father, a struggling writer, could find work. He eventually rebelled and joined The Three Traveling Sisters, eventually dropping out because it "wasn't his style." After he left though, he continued dying his spots green, until eventually settling on his iconic blue. He still dyes his spots that blue today.

Big Daddy along with Pop Daddy are featured in the fourty first and fourty second issues of Super Mario-Kun. As the story is based on New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Big Daddy and Pop Daddy are introduced as Mario's new accomplices. Throughout the adaption of the two issues, Big Daddy plays an important role by journeying alongside Mario, Luigi, and Pop Daddy on their quest to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser and his forces.

Both Big Daddy and Pop Daddy are seen in their propeller forms on the cover of the fourty first issue of Super Mario-Kun.

Big Daddy and the other heroes of New Super Mario Bros. Wii were shown as some of the featured characters in the Nintendo 3DS tech demo. He was riding a Pink Yoshi, similarly to the game's box art. Eventually, this tech demo screen featuring Blue Toad and his friends was later obtainable as a puzzle in the Puzzle Swap mode in the StreetPass Mii Plaza.

Big Daddy, Mario, Luigi, Pop Daddy, and Miis, were also seen and playable in the Wii U demo, New Super Mario Bros. Mii.

Big Daddy alongside Pop Daddy, Mario, Luigi, the Koopalings, and various other characters from New Super Mario Bros. Wii made cameo appearances in the Wii game Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Minna de Party Sandaime where the characters can be seen dancing to the various tracks featured in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

While Big Daddy did not appear in Super Mario 3D World, his artwork from the New Super Mario Bros. was reused in the electronic manual to represent Toad, who appears instead, with his original in-game appearance from Super Mario Bros. 2 (pictured at right).

General information

Personality

Big Daddy's spots are dyed blue. He typically where's shades, even during the night, cause, quote, "Coolness don't follow the sun." He is usually associated with being very suave, often being able to pull off moves and jumps other characters in the game can't. His voice is deep, like the rivers of his homeland, and female toads often swoon and sometimes die from his very presence. However, he can also be very business like, as the president of Toad's Against the Eating of Mushrooms Foundation. He has since garnered over 10,000,000 Coins from people. However, because there isn't much you can spend money on in the way of stopping mushroom production, much of this money was spent in casinos. When asked about eating mushrooms in games, he said "I'll do it, cause they're there and they make me grow, but I don't like it. Just the though of it makes me sick. Excuse me. *vomits*"

Abilities

Throughout the New Super Mario Bros. games, Big Daddy plays similarly to Mario, except way better, because he's Big Daddy. While possessing the same jumps as Mario, he is also shown to use similar techniques as well including the Wall Jump and Ground Pound. He is also able to maximize his jumps by using a Spin Jump. Unlike the Mario Bros. however, Big Daddy (along with Pop Daddy) are shown to have a unique triple jump; the two Toads perform a high jump similar to a cartwheel while facing one side of the screen. Big Daddy is also shown to be quite strong, being able to carry items much larger than his own size (such as barrels). He is also capable of picking up, carrying and throwing other characters (such as Mario) with ease. All of these traits are similar to not give players advantages over each other. In New Super Luigi U, Big Daddy has the ability to perform a scuttle jump much like Luigi.

Big Daddy is also capable of using the various power-ups in the game allowing him to use their special effects and achieve different forms (such as Propeller Blue Toad if he was to touch a Propeller Mushroom). Much like the other characters playable in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, he is shown to be skilled in riding Yoshis.
