Choco Island 1 is the first course of the Flower Cup in Super Mario Kart, reused as the second course of the Extra Flower Cup in Mario Kart: Super Circuit. Set on Chocolate Island, the course features patches of mud.

Overview

Choco Island 1 is a very short course and one lap typically takes not much more than 20 seconds to complete. Its hazards are Piranha Plants which will make the driver slide once contacted. Another obstacle is slippery mud, which makes it difficult to steer. There are also many small bumps in the road, causing karts to automatically hop somewhat, also increasing control difficulty. When driving off the regular road on the darker ground, the kart slows down extremely, unless a mushroom or a star is used. There is only one place where items can be obtained, just after the start.

Choco Island 1 reappeared in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and is the second track of the Extra Flower Cup. It uses the background from Sunset Wilds. The Piranha Plant hazards were removed from the track, but an item box can be found at the left side of the wide portion near the end.

Choco Island 1 returns in Mario Kart Tour, making its debut in the Cooking Tour after its map was found in the game's files. Like all other courses, it has an R variant and a T variant. Its R/T variant debuts in the Autumn Tour.

In this version, the starting S-curve's width is evened-out, many of the bumps after the initial set are removed (like with Choco Island 2), the curve with the mud patches is longer and evened-out, and the inside walls are thinner; the wall near the first few bumps has a gap in it, and a new wall is also added near the last turn. The course now has a starting banner with the classic Mario Kart logo. In the reverse and trick variant, some of the ramps are partially in the ground. The course is a favorite of Pauline, Nabbit, Chargin' Chuck, Mario (Chef), Rosalina (Swimwear), Luigi (Painter), Tanooki Mario, Luigi (Vacation), Mario (Golf), and Dry Bones (Gold). It is also a favorite of Dixie Kong, Baby Peach (Cherub), and the Chain Chomp Mii Racing Suit if they reach level 6, and the Nabbit Mii Racing Suit if it reaches level 8.

While many retro courses in Mario Kart Tour uses their original music arrangements, Choco Island 1 reuses Choco Island 2's arrangement from Mario Kart DS.
