The Autumn Tour was the fifty-fourth tour of Mario Kart Tour, which began on October 6, 2021, and ended on October 19, 2021. The tour introduced various Tanooki-themed items, such as marking the return of Tanooki Mario as a playable character and introducing Rosalina's Tanooki form from Super Mario 3D World as a playable variant, making this tour the first to introduce two new High-End characters since the Ninja Tour thirteen tours prior. Due to the former's reappearance, as of this tour, all playable characters from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, except for Miis and non-Mario characters, are present in the game. King Boo (Luigi's Mansion) and Peach (Halloween) (who both appeared as the week 2 spotlight drivers in the previous Halloween Tours) reappeared as spotlights for the second week.
The tour's signature course was Wii Maple Treeway, and similarly to the last tour that featured this track as its signature course, the 2020 Halloween Tour, there were Jack-o'-lanterns scattered across every course except GBA Sunset Wilds, 3DS Rosalina's Ice World, 3DS Rainbow Road, their variants, and SNES Donut Plains 2R/T. While this tour did not introduce any new courses, it introduced the R/T variants of SNES Choco Island 1 and Wii Maple Treeway.
Starting from this tour onwards, trailers for tours are no longer released on the tour's start date but rather on the tour's announcement date, though several later tours had their trailers released several days earlier. The Coins Aplenty event gives out 500 coins per course instead of 300 coins per course as it is held only on Saturdays, while on Tuesdays, a new event called Tokens Aplenty takes place instead, where players can earn a random amount of event tokens per course on a randomly selected cup. The changes for these events were effective in the Autumn Tour and the 2021 Halloween Tour, as the Coins Aplenty event returned to 300 coins per course and held on Saturdays and Tuesdays, while Tokens Aplenty is held on Mondays.
The Autumn Celebration event began in this tour which, similarly to the Summertime Celebration event held from the Summer Tour to the Mario vs. Peach Tour, features new unique challenges, as well as upgraded rewards in the Total Points Challenge that, for the first time, includes a glider. The event lasted for three consecutive tours, ending in the Toad vs. Toadette Tour. In this tour and the tour after, the Lakitu referee wore the same Halloween outfit that he wore during the 2020 Halloween Tour.
This tour's Coin Rush course was GCN Dino Dino Jungle, which was reused from the Hammer Bro Tour. The menu's background featured the large tree from Wii Maple Treeway as the landmark of this tour, which was reused from the 2020 Halloween Tour.
Signature kart sets
Drivers with a corresponding cup were bumped one rank up in every course of their cup.
Players' most recently used kart and glider are chosen, and favorite and favored ones have extra priority. Opponents are arranged randomly. On day 1 of this tour, players finish a race in RMX Choco Island 1 in the Roy Cup using Roy for a free pipe launch. Starting from day 2, players have to finish a race in the earliest incomplete course that is not in any of the ranked cups using the driver shown on the course's thumbnail every day to obtain the corresponding reward in the table below. Once all of the courses are completed, the courses are selected at random.
Gold cells indicate rewards that are exclusive to Gold Pass members.
Initial pipe appearance rates
The All-Clear Pipe randomly shot out one of the following regular High-End items. The appearance rate can be viewed via the "Pipe content" link on the Gold Pass purchase screen.
Autumn Pipe 1
Autumn Pipe 2
Big Ears Pipe
The limited-time event where event tokens appeared began on October 6, 2021 and ended on October 19, 2021. Event tokens could be earned by causing opponents to crash during a race, running into Jack-o'-lanterns, or hitting them with items.
The shop featured a variety of set and randomized items available for purchase. The item slots in the shop are unlocked based on the highest tier of players.
