"The Tension" is a theme composed for Paper Mario: Sticker Star. It is a jazz theme with synth backing, often heard playing before boss battles. It can be played in the Sticker Museum.

In Paper Mario: Color Splash, a faithful arrangement of the theme titled "Boss Incoming!" plays before fighting each of the Koopalings, with the exception of Roy. It is available in the record for the Crimson Tower in the Prisma Museum.
