"A Fearsome Foe" is a theme composed for Paper Mario: Color Splash. It is composed on oboe, bass, and synth. It is used as a battle theme for various mid-bosses, including Big Spiny, Petea Piranha, the Black Shy Guy in Violet Passage, Steak, Big Lava Bubble, Kamek, and the fake-out battle with Piper. This track is on the record for Kiwano Temple in the Prisma Museum.

Like most other battle themes, the track has an off-key variant that plays when Mario is low on HP.

In the EB Games Expo, this track is used for a battle against a Sledge Bro.

Notes[edit]

  • In the game's data, Kamek's battles are initialized with a music track called "BOSS_Kamek," while mid-bosses use "BOSS_MIDDLE." Both music IDs simply play "A Fearsome Foe," but Kamek's being different implies he was planned to have his own boss music.
